Have they been to any friends' houses to have a sleepover yet? At what age would you let them go, assuming you know the other parent fairly well? What if you didn't really know the parent?

noooo, i dont think they are ready for that. Maybe if we had a family friend w/kids their age and they grew up together or something....but we dont.

How old? Depends on the kid really. Drake is 8 but I wouldnt say he's ready.

But thats probably around the age of readiness.

As for not knowing the parents....that comes later....maybe 12 or so

Haley has just started to have sleepovers in the past few months with her BFF, and I feel like I know her parents well enough. She's 10, so it'll be awhile for Tyler.

Julia has sleepovers with a family we've known since 2008. Her friend is 2 days younger than her, and I trust them completely. They'll take her overnight if we want to do something (e.g. they took her when we went to the Delaware casino for my bday, we took the kids overnight when it was the parents' anniversary). She loves it both sleeping there and having them come here. Aside from my mom, I can't really imagine anyone else I'd feel comfortable letting her sleep over with, though.

Davey has had sleepovers, starting at my mom's when he was like a month old (that time it was because we'd just moved to NH and had a LONG drive). He's slept over my friend Bre's house, who's DD is his age, and he's slept over my friend Gina's house who has 2 girls his age and one a year or so younger.

I miss him having such close friends.

I don't remember exactly when sleepovers started, my brother has kids similar aged so they started really young. Julia had her first sleepover at a friends a few months ago, but the mom is someone I know well.

I don't think I've ever had any of my kids sleep over where I didn't know the parents well.

Lauren was having sleepovers at Justin's girlfriend's house until he broke up with her recently. She has 2 girls and one is the same age as Lauren. She loved it and I don't think she understands that she can't stay there anymore. Maybe they'll get back together.

It's funny in reading all these - when I was a kid, I wasn't allowed to go to sleep overs until 5th grade-ish, but then my mom let me sleep over just about anyone's house (girlfriend-wise that is). When I think back to some of the **** we got into b/c the parents of the friend just didn't care, I shudder. Julia started having sleep overs last year, but I'll only allow it with my mom/the friend I mentioned in my prior post, and I imagine it will be that way for awhile.

Only at the grandparents houses or my sister's house. As far as friends houses, I don't know any well enough to even think about letting them. There are 2 different ladies that I have babysat for that I would let them go stay the night with if it ever came up, but so far it hasn't. Other than those 2 families it will probably be at least 3rd or 4th grade (and then only if I have gotten to know the families).
