Is anyone else's child a poor writer? Madeleine's handwriting looks like chicken scratch pretty much. It's legible, but barely so. Mostly it's due to her writing so big. Every letter she writes is about twice the size that it needs to be.

Is your child a neat writer or a messy one?

She is such a strong reader, but her spelling and handwriting are horrible. She still writes some numbers and letters backwards sometimes and she spells some words phonetically.

This, 100%. She's the top reader in her class and I think was tested at a second/third grade level, but writing she is very sloppy. It was only recently that she stopped writing her "j" backwards.

Spencer surprises me when he takes his time, he CAN have very neat handwriting. With that being said, it's not often that he takes his time and does a neat job. There have been many nights where I will erase his homework and make him redo it because it's so sloppy!
