So I just took some pictures of this family the other day that had 5 girls. The oldest was 10 and the youngest is 3 months old. We got to talking and I asked them if that was there last or if they wanted anymore. They told me they want at least 5 more kids which nothing wrong with that when I was little I always wanted to have a big family. But they where like we are going to try until we at least get 1 boy. The mom who looks great for having 5 kids is like I love having babies if im able to I would love more then 5 more. Im like if money was not the issues how many kids in all would you want and shes like 15 kids total . Both mom and dad came from families of 10 kids so they wanted a big family. It just seems so out there to have families that big anymore. I think in high school I had one of the biggest families. Which 5 is big these days.

I do have to say this family was so amazing the love they had I couldnt believe. Dad even knows how to do piggy tails . I thought was even more amazing.

Isn't it nuts?! Growing up, I lived close to a dutch settlement area and I went to school with kids from big families of 10-15 kids! It was crazy. The good thing though, is that the older kids can help out with the younger kids, and if mom is out of comission, there are lots of little helpers. Still, I think I will just stick with my dreams of one more!

heheh my aunt tried for a boy... 6 kids later and 1 boy. 2 kids is enough for me. One more in the far future and even then, who knows.

^^^ my hubby can too.

I am a wicked birth junkie and want a big family. Money is a big issue though so we will see. We aren'y really into material things but I want a nicer house, some land and the ability to pay my bills without stressing about it every month. So we will see if thinkgs work out. I am still only 26 so I got some time.

I went to school with a girl that was one of 5 girls. Her mom was pregnant with the last one when we met and I thought that was crazy, you don't see much of that around here really. Then I met DH and found out he was the oldest of 7 and now everyone thinks they are nuts. His parents decided around kid #4 to just see what happens and how many they end up with. They have 3boys and 4 girls, even up until the end. When his sister was born he was 23 and the nurses asked if he was the father, yuck!

I have to say, I think it's hard to have a large family anymore. Things just aren't made for it. Finding a vehicle that'll seat more than 6 comfortably. Going out to eat and trying to get a table for more than 4. Staying in a hotel -- they'll make you get a second room if they see that you have more than 5 people staying there. I'm impressed with people who can do it. I'd love to have 4 kids, but even that seems large anymore.

We're just getting started with our 3. We want to adopt sevral times, and I want to have one or two more biologically. We have a lot of friends with larger families, and I have great mentors and advice givers.

I am glad they made a favorable impression on you. Many large families are actually very well run, just because there are 5 or more kids doesnt always mean they are running amok!

Our pastor and his wife had four boys. She's a good friend of mine, and she just had a baby GIRL! Well, four months ago, but it is still fresh. We were all shocked, and kinda still are. But she says, we are done...there is no more room left in the van for more babies! LOL

I guess I'm not a "baby" person. That just sounds insane to me. One is enough for me and I can barely afford or handle her sometimes. How can you afford college for so many kids?

I am addicted to Discovery Health and they have a family that they have done a couple shows on called the Duggers. I think they have like 16 kids at this point and they absolutely amaze me. Everytime I see that any of their shows is on I have to watch it no matter how many times I've seen it. We would really like to be able to have 4 kids, but that would be the absolute most for me. You guys should check it out sometime if you get Discovery Health. I think their shows are called, "Raising 16 Children" and other ones like that.

I am amazed at that. I say if you can afford it, go for it. However, I am good with 1.
