I think we may have touched this subject before but I need help!
Anytime I tell Nicole NO she doesn't care, she looks back at me says NO and does it anyway! Then when I start marching up to her and tell her more firmly NO she starts to laugh!!! I've even gotten down to her level and said DON'T TOUCH and lightly slapped her hand but she just laughs and thinks I'm playing!

Do I just need to wait it out until she can understand more? What do you do in the meantime???

Right now she is just learning what is okay, and what isn't okay, from the sound of it. Just keep telling her no, EVERY time, I wouldn't do anything that would be too demonstrative and entertaining for her as that would reinforce her behavior. Sometimes I will take his little hand (when he hits for example) and say no, then when I let it go, I will say, I am letting you go, don't hit. I try to notice before he is going to do something and say no then. Right now we have not had too many problems, so I feel pretty fortunate.

Denver is the same. He knows what "No" means, he just likes to test me. Try removing her from what she is doing & sitting her somewhere against a wall & say "No" - works here with the daycare kids. It's not really a timeout because they won't stay, but it seems to work.

Sounds normal. She is learning whats acceptable(and not) right now. Just keep telling her no and eventually she will get the hang of it.

Would you believe that I actually resorted to **attempting** to give Ryan a time out Yesterday!! OMG!!! I am seriously nuts!! LOL...he was being such a booger...so I finally put him up on the couch and sai "now you have time out"...LOL...he laughed and jumped down....then I looked up at Emily and realized how silly it probaly looked to her,me trying to give Ryan a time out...LOL...I have been trying REALLY hard to minimize the word "no" when he does something wrong...it's such a habit though, that it just comes out. I think they get SOOOOO used to hearing it,that they become immuned so to speak...see if it helps any to use other words instead of no...like "dont touch" or "dont hit",etc...and leave the "NO NO" for really big things..things that will hurt her. Just know that it's completly normal and you might as well secretly smile when she does...she'll be about two before she really catch the hang of it...then it's a whole new set of issues:-)

Basically the same thing... I just say no and sometimes she listens, sometimes she doesn't.
If it's something that she could get hurt doing then I pick her up & take her away.
Being baby #3 I think I'm too relaxed now, lol!
