I train dogs, not cats, but I can offer some advice.
Taking the animal to his stool or pee and then to his litterbox wont teach him that hes supposed to go in the litter box. Animals live in the now. You have to tell the animal NO, while they are in the act. And then put the stool in the box. However, from my experience cats that do this, always do this. You'll want to look for some expert advice on the matter.

Sorry no suggestions for you Stephanee. Maybe shutting him in a small area (bathroom) with the litter box for awhile?

I cant say for sure...but maybe it has a UTI? My cat,Oscar gets them ALL the time...so we have to keep him on Purina urinary tract special formula food...and that seems to have helped ALOT.I've had to take him to the vet a few times for medicine, but he usually seems to get better by himself. Cats are super smart and you should only have to show them their litter box ONCE and they remember exactly where to go...about the poop,I have no idea. I think that (unless you are already attached) you should give this kitty up or back and maybe get a different one(but wait awhile because cats dont like smelling other cats and they will pee over what the other cat did). You never get the smell of cat urine out of furniture or carpet...hence the reason we got new furniture AND carpet this past year. I hate to admit it,but when Oscar seems like he is getting sick I lock him in the basement(with his food/water of course). His box is down there and he stays close to it and actually makes it in the box. Hope everything works out...if I wasnt so darn attached already to Oscar,I would have given him away a long time ago(he is 4.5 yrs old now).

When I first got my cat I would put him in a cat carrier with a small disposable pie pan with cat litter. I would put him in there when we were gone, at night, and a few times during the day. Your kitten is still quite young. Hope this helps. Make sure he knows where the litter box is to.

ok so last night i put him int he bathroom all night with the litter box and food/water.. he didn't do his duty until i let him out and he went behind the desk again.. so this time i got smart and put tape all around the desk so he couldn't get under (and scooted the desk back against the wall completely).. well he started scratching at the tape so i took him right into the bathroom and he went!!

colee.. the old cat (the one we had for 2 days) that sprayed on my couch.. im finally getting rid of the smell.. he did it 3 time son the couch so i am treating it.. my sister said folex works.. so thats what I am doing.. i read somewhere if you spray places he went with body spray they will stop doign there cause they dont' like the smell... i would feel aweful taking in back.. but my sanity is more important.. if it doesn't work out i will post at petsmart or petco for adoption.. hes a kitten so im sure he will get taken!

Give it some time, I think it might get better. If you are still having problems in a couple weeks then maybe you can think about adopting him out.... Sorry I can't help, I'm a dog person!
