It's 1 AM and I finally decided to start packing for our trip. I decided to start with the easiest part: The dress that I'm wearing to one of the reunion events. I keep all my dresses in the closet in the computer room (which is actually a fourth bedroom, therefore it has a decent closet).
I slid open the closet door and was hit by a terrible stench. The kind of stench that makes you stop breathing. It was NASTY. It smelled like stinky feet or old cheese or something. My first thought was CAT POOP, but it wasn't really that kind of smell, and we hardly ever have the closet open anyway so it's not like the cats have free access to it. (Plus they're not in the habit of pooping in closets, LOL, although they did go through a phase where one of them pooped in the nursery when Thatcher was first born.)
I started digging around until I found the source of the stink. (Holding my breath the whole time.) It was an old bottle of milk. Not just kinda sorta old, but OLD old. Like the milk was curdled to the point of being nearly solid. OMG, it was awful! I can't even describe it!
Thatcher went through a stage about a month ago where he would slide open the closet doors and start grabbing items from the closet. I'm guessing he threw that bottle in there a month ago. Can you imagine?!
To make matters worse, all my dresses now stink, including the one I want to wear this weekend. It's silk, so I can't just throw it in the washer. Hoepfully Dryel will do the trick. My fingers are crossed...
Seriously, though, you can't imagine this smell! I left a bottle out for two weeks when we were on vacation this summer, and that was nothing compared to this! EWWW!!! Stinky milk, EWWW!!!
My niece once drank an old milk cup she found under her bed...my sister nearly died! It didn't bother her, though! I have found sooooo many cups with hardened milk...as a matter of fact, just last night dh found one in the van and threw it away. They go staright to the trash!
Darn good thing I'm still drinking coffee and have not yet moved on to milk! YUCK!! (Yeah, I know - It's after 11:30 and I'm still in my jammies and drinking coffee - I LOVE fall break!)
You're story makes my nose wrinkle! I know exactly what you mean! And thanks for the tip! Belle has been getting the jist of opening doors and closets lately, I'll be sure to check for bottles and cups!
I hope that smell comes out!
