I thought the sickness had slowed down to just regular morning sickness, but apparently I was wrong. I had gained 6 pounds past my prepregnancy weight, and now I've lost 4 of those pounds. I'm just not feeling good at all. It's so annoying. I thought everything was going to be "normal" this time!!!!

I have still been getting sick about once a week! I never did with my previous two pregnancies, but with this one, I still throw up at least one whole day a week...UGH!!!

I was feeling nauseous last week, and here's what helped me:

I cut back on sugary foods, especially in the morning. My stomach just can't seem to handle much sugar anymore.

I increased my liquid intake in the morning, and added more protein to my breakfast. Increasing protein in the mornings is what got rid of my morning sickness in the first trimester, and it appeared to work this time too. For me, I have to have some kind of animal protein in the morning, like an egg or glass of milk (I've NEVER liked any breakfast meats like sausage, bacon etc).

Someone said earlier that a high-carb diet can make nausea worse, so try to cut back on the carbs and increase your protein. If you have nausea all day long, try adding more protein to each meal and snack, and try to stay hydrated too. Remember that you get a lot of your daily water requirements from the food that you eat, so try to eat fruit and veggies when you can and if you are not able to eat much, drink more liquids than usual to make up for the water you are missing from your diet.

Thank you for all of the suggestions. I appreciate it very much. This is my third pregnancy with hyperemesis if that helps to explain my issues. I'm currently on the same medication they give to cancer patients that are undergoing chemotherapy to keep them from getting sick. It was working fine, so I cut back to one a day instead of two because they are so expensive. I guess I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and start taking two a day again. The dumb things are $28 a pill! My insurance fights me every time to try to make me pay for anything over 15 pills a month. My poor doctor gets into an argument with them every time and says, "well, you can either pay the money for the prescription, or pay for her to spend another weekend in the hospital getting the same meds through an IV. You pick." I love my doctor!

Oh, and it seemed to help to add some fat. I prefer the taste of fat-free milk, but if you like 2% try drinking that. I added butter to my breakfast.
Just try to have some protein, carbs, and fat in every meal. Olive oil is a good fat. I made popcorn last night and cooked it in olive oil.
Hope you start feeling better soon!

I am so sorry that you feel sick. It can really slow you down and make you miserable. I am hoping that you are feeling better and that your insurance will pay for the Zofran!

I can't stand my insurance company. The Zofran has seriously helped me out and they want to try to limit me on it. ??? Jerks!! I hated being in the hospital for those two and a half days a couple of months ago. It really sucked.

Now that I'm feeling bad again, I don't want to go anywhere or do anything. I'm tired, and even though food sounds good, when it's in front of me, I don't want it. It's so annoying.

Update!!! DH and DD met me for lunch at Gringo's. Apparently Mexican food was the cure all because now I'm feeling mucho better!!! Yea!!!

Too bad there aren't any places around here that serve enchiladas and nachos for breakfast!!!

isn't Zofran wonderful?????
That's the only thing that got me through the first trimester.

It does suck that ins. companies get all weird about it. I could only get 12 at a time. Luckily I only needed 2 a day for a few weeks then I cut back to taking one whenever I started to feel sick which eventually tapered off.

At least you have a good doc. And maybe the mexican will do the trick!!

Keep feelin' good

I don't know if I've lost any weight, but I've been having some ICKI-NESS the last week or so every time I eat... or when I get up in the AM, as well! I feel you on this one! Hope you start feeling WAY BETTER very soon!

As for the mexican food, that's my SUPER big craving and fix-all for everything, as well! LOL How funny!
