I'm telling you morning, noon and night I'm itchy...I try not to scratch but sometimes it's really hard not to...I pile on the cocoa butter, shea butter, mother's friend and palmers strech mark cream and it helps some what with the itchness but then I feel all sticky, showers are always a plus for the itchyness...ugh I know it's just an inconvenience and that things for me personally have not been that bad during pregnancy but GOD I can't wait to get my non-itchy skin back...

Anyone else have any suggestions???

Check the lotion isle again, and there is a really good brand that has a moisturizing lotion with some itch relief....but it isn't medicated or anything. I believe it is Jergen's lotion....and I had to put it on WITH my cocoa butter when my belly was expanding. My doc said that when your skin stretches and expands, it makes it itchy. But that may not be the problem for you if you are itchy EVERYWHERE. Is it just on your belly and or anything else that may be getting bigger, like your boobs, or is it just all over in general?

If you're talking just about your belly and breasts where the skin is stretching try skipping all the stuff you're currently using and instead use plain, UNSCENTED soap and plain olive oil for a week or so. Or, if you're not working outside and getting sweatsoaked or working as a short order cook and coming home with your uniform grease-soaked, skip the soap altogether on those areas.

Pregnancy is a common time to develop skin sensitivities to all the garbage the skin care industry adds to the oil in hopes of luring you into spending extra money on their brands. But all those dyes, perfumes, and additives can be very irritating to sensitive skin.

If you're itching all over and not just on the stretching skin talk to your doctor about some medical relief.

The belly is itching because it is growing which means your belly is stretching if you carry on itching you will make stretch marks appear! so try not to itch!

I too have been itching like CRAZY!!! But, mine is due to a severe case of poison ivy. If you are itching all over it is a very good thing to let your doctor know. There are a couple of conditions in pregnancy that can arrise that may make you itch really bad. When my poison ivy first came up my doctor thought I may have developed a pregnancy rash called PUPPP...don't really know what that stands for, but you can find a little information about it in most pregnancy books, and online if you search PUPPP. As for itching with no spots or bumps, you should still inform your doctor, because of another condition that can be caused by pregnancy. My doctor was at least able to prescribe me a steroid creme to help dry up my rash which had become unbearable by my last doctors appointment. The good news is that I have been informed none of these rashes will harm the mother or baby...just will be really annoying until you give birth. So good luck, hope you solve your itchiness soon.

ok so it's not alllllll over....it is just boobs, tummy, butt and lower back (more love handles) it just feels like it's all over, I think some of the problem is that I put the lotion on and then my shirt sticks to me and makes me feel like that my skin isn't breathing I get the kreepy crawly feelings or little tingles...maybe a strange description...but I think you will understand what I mean...

Another thing is I hear that is an old wives tale that if you scratch it will cause stretch marks...anyone else hear that???

No.. stretch marks have nothing to do with if you actually scratch or not. You are either going to get them.. or you are not. I don't even think any amount of lotion can stop stretch marks either, just might ease the itching a bit. I would use all unscented lotions and soaps though. Even thought they smell really good, the scents really are not the best for our skins, especially if you are developing a sensitivity to them. (They are great for people who have no problem with the scented oils though. I'm not one of them).
