So earlier today when I went to the bathroom I noticed that when I wiped, I was a little extra 'gooey.' I didn't think much of it. I have been fairly strong braxton hicks today but I have been trying to just deal with them because I DO NOT WANT TO GO BACK TO L&D IF THEY ARE GOING TO SEND ME HOME IN A FEW HOURS. lol But, I just went back to the bathroom and when I wiped, there was a fair amount of discharge. It was really thick and covered the entire paper. There was no pink or brown or red splotches like I have read or head people say. But I have also read that it can be white or yellowish. Mine was mostly white.

So, I have decided to just watch to see if I have more discharge and try to measure the amount by guesstimation. My braxton hicks are still going pretty strong, but they aren't consistent in time.

For the ladies that have babies... what was your mucus plug like and when did you lose it? Do you think I should be worried because, like I mentioned, I want to avoid L&D if I can.

Thank you in advance!

I am not sure about the whole mucus plug thing, I did not notice last time if I did pass it or not. I do know (TMI likely LOL) that the discharge I have been experiencing lately seems to come in abundance and from what I read that is normal. Hopefully someone who has more insight than I can help you out.

How often are you getting the braxton-hicks? How many would you say you get in an hour? in a day? just curious.......cause it seems like I'm getting too many of them myself. I never remember loosing my plug with my other 3. I think it was a gradual loss rather than a huge clump, but I don't think that's the norm, so I'm probably no help.

I have been having a lot of discharge like that too. I didn't lose my plug with my other kids. I just had a lot of discharge before hand. I am not sure what your doctor's protocol is for you. I have called my doctor for discharge before so if you are worried call.

White discnarge is really common at our point in the pregnancy...but maybe I'd call L&D just to make sure?

I have a lot of discharge too .. Sometimes I see a small white glob in the toilet after I pee .. but everywhere I read, it says increased discharge is common ..since I'm a first time mom too I'm always worried about it being the mucous plug .. I found is picture on google .. this is VERY VERY TMI ....http://www.ambiguous.org/quinn/image...cous-plug3.jpg

I have had a couple instances exactly like you describe... both in this preganancy already and in previous...and it wasn't my plug... my plug was a lot .....umm "clumpier?" if that is the word for it.

Here's the good news too... even if it was... it doesn't necassarily mean anything tooo horrible! You can actually have more than one mucus plug in pregnancy Wonderful huh? LOL

If you are having more than 4 bh contractions in an hour though... you should definately be calling ..... because even if they send you back home ...they should be monitoring them even for a little bit ...in case you need something to slow them down. Sometimes we have contractions we don't even feel in between the ones we DO feel

My SIL is a nurse & has 3 kids & said its pretty normal to have extra discharge in the last trimester. I guess it freaked me out a bit cuz I haven't had ANY thick discharge this whole pregnancy, only the white-ish coating on the undies. My BH finally did subside and I took them fairly well in stride today. Thank you everyone for your comments. Its just kind of weirded me out a bit.

This week I am going to my parents for some much needed R&R and so my mommy can pamper me one last time before its ALL EVIE ALL THE TIME! So, I won't be online as much until next week. But, thank you again everyone for all your great comments & encouragement in the past couple of weeks. It truly means the world to me and puts my mind at ease that I am not going through all this alone.

Me too

My doc said losing your mucus plug didn't necessarily mean you'd go into labor anytime soon - and it could just be a lot of discharge. I think you're doing the right thing, keeping an eye on it. I would even suggest just calling your doc if it continues and just letting him know, just a heads up ya know?
