I made myself a PB & J sandwich for lunch and decided I would give one to Ava too.........oh she loved it so much...........I spread the peanut butter really thin.....since this was her first time having it.................
Question........do you spread the peanut butter thick or thin on the bread for the toddler AND do you cut the bread in 1/2, 1/4, or whole???

Charlie LOVES peanut butter!
If I give it so him as a sandwich, I cut the sandwich into strips - sort of like string cheese size. Other times I spread it between two Saltine crackers. He likes to take the crackers apart and lick the peanut butter, first, though. He just had that today, as a matter of fact.

Kira hasn't had any yet, but I have a jar of it in my cupboard that I'll get out one of these days and give her a taste of.
I'll probably do it on crackers since she's still doing her whole bread-strike thing, though maybe some tasty PB on the bread would break her of the strike! Now that's a thought...

We haven't given Thatcher a PB sandwich or anything, but one day DH gave him a bite of a Reese's cup. DH told me, "I gave Thatcher a little piece of candy and he loved it!" I asked what he gave him, and when he told me, I was like, "Oh... so I guess we've introduced peanuts then, huh?" DH somehow thought we'd already done that, LOL. Anyway, Thatcher did fine with it so I think I'll probably start giving him PB sandwiches soon. Seems like such an easy meal item!

It's recommended that you spread it thin, especially when they're first getting used to it, b/c it's so gooey that it's a choking hazard. Think of how hard it can be to eat a PB sandwich... thick peanut butter, dry bread... It gets pretty sticky!

We usually cut Thatcher's sandwiches into strips, too. He loves it! I've also found that he's less likely to shove the whole piece in his mouth if it's in a strip shape as opposed to a quarter! He likes taking bites off the strips... when I give him the quartered pieces, though, he enjoys shoving it all in at once!

No peanut butter here yet. My doc said if he hasn't had any yet, wait. So, I assume it's fine if he would have had some, but I may as well wait.

I hate peanut butter (can't even stand the smell ) so we don't even have it in the house. We'd like to hold off 'til he's at least 2 anyway, which should be pretty easy to do since we don't normally buy it.

I don't think she's had any. I will probably wait until she's two.
