I have an LG too and it doesn't have to use HE detergent ..... I use my good ol' Apple Mango Tango ... but only 1/4 of the amount

We had front loaders in our last house and we also used the HE detergent. It worked great!

YES!

It's VERY important that you use the detergent that has the HE symbol on it. Because front loaders use a much smaller amount of water, the regular detergent can't break down in the water. It will leave a residue in your washer that will act as a 'strainer' for all the yucky bacteria and dirt that come off your clothes. Your washer will end up stinking REALLY bad! If you read reviews about the frontloaders, you'll see some people complain that their washer ended up smelling really bad. That's why. And you can't ever get rid of the smell! !

My front loading one says it requires HE. I have the Maytag Neptune set. I haven't been using HE, but I guess I will now. Thanks for the info, Sarah! I didn't know that.

I called LG and asked them about it ... and they said as long as I only used about 1/4 of the normal amount, that I could use regular detergent

oh, ok. My book says regular can be used if diluted. I just read it lol. I got them a year ago. I guess I will dilute it from now on. Those bottles of HE just aren't big enough for all of our laundry. It runs out too fast.

you should be ok then Trina. However, I would document that in case anything were to happen with your washer re: smell or mechanical problems (all issues that I've read w/using regular detergent). Just to CYA, KWIM?

We got the LGs.....what does that stand for? Lifes's Good? We got the pedestals...I think it will make it easier to load/unload.......DH came home with the BLUE! It's so dark it almost looks black....of course I wanted the red, but oh well......I didn't know that each color does something different...it's just not the color....weird.

Oh really? What does the blue do? Hmmmm.... Mine is the TROMM Front-Load SteamWasher with 4.0 Cu. Ft. Capacity( 9 Wash Programs SteamFresh Technology), and it comes in blue for $100 more. Derek didn't want to spend the extra $$$. El Cheapo!!!

Sounds like the same one....then maybe it's not the difference in colors??? I think there are three different models of LGs...maybe you can get each model in one of the 3 colors then? It sounds like we have the same one....does yours have a cycle on the washer for baby clothes? A drying rack? Remote monitor/timer? I guess it would??

We did a test run and the little tray...where it says MAX, DH was going to fill it up to MAX and I was like NO WAY! That is as much as a reg wash detergent....We got Tide HE to start out and then I want to try and use regular deterg. On the Tide HE the cap as lines for 1, 2, 3...We just filled it to 1 and then poured it in the tray.
