Jude is still really bowlegged. His doctor said it should start straightening out now (slowly). But his right foot still turns in quite a bit. Noah was the same...in fact Noah's still does.

Anyone else still have a bowlegged toddler?

No, not here.

When I was a kid, my feet turned in. (I don't know what the technical term for it is.) I had to wear orthopedic shoes and take ballet lessons to train my feet to turn out. Or...to turn nomal.

It didn't hurt me any, but I'm glad Kira won't have to deal with it. I wonder if things like that are hereditary?

It must be hereditary b/c both of my boys have/ had it, Abby's were always fine. I know the bowleggedness is normal. They say they bow out then actually go in before going straight....by the age of 7 they should be normal, I believe. So I've got awhile before I really need to worry.

They also don't do the braces anymore (found it didn't really help) but maybe special shoes. THey say it's really cosmetic, as long as it doesn't affect their walking any.

With Noah he said by age 7 (I think). Actually Noah isn't bowlegged now, his knee appears to turn in. But he was bowlegged like Jude as an infant/ toddler. We had it checked with an ortho about a year ago or so, and he said it's actually his hip rotation...

Just this afternoon I read a snippet on this in Parents magazine. It said that the more weight bearing they do, the straighter their legs will get. And it also said that "a small percentage of children remain bowlegged, usually due to genetics."

My boys have their daddy's legs, thankfully, so they aren't bowlegged.

No, Jake's not bow legged. Hopefully Jude's will correct themselves soon!

One of Thatcher's feet really turns in. I can't remember which one it is... I mainly only notice it in pictures, but it's REALLY obvious in some pics. OH, I have one in photobucket, let me grab it...

The right foot! See how turned in it is? I think he walks more or less normally, but I see pictures all the time with it turned in like that. I'm hoping it will correct itself before too long.

I would say slightly bowlegged. I noticed more when he was a baby, but I think his legs are straightening out.

Alex's left leg seems really turned in, so I Asked the Ped about it this week and he told me it is normal for a child to be bowlegged until they are 5-6 year old... He said it will straighten itself out...

Has your Ped said anything about it???

Not too much anymore. Which is a relief for me because Derek's grandmother and older sister are VERY bowlegged...I always worried that maybe one of my kids would be.
