Does your Dyson make that really loud noise when you're vacuuming and suck up fringe or something? Mine has gotten so bad it will make this SUPER loud noise even at random times....UGH! I talked to the manufacturer about it a long time ago and they said it was designed to do that if you're sucking up something long that could get wound around the brush.

It's soo annoying and it scares the crap out of me everytime it happens!

Mine does get louder when I am sucking up something of substance. I like it though, I like to know when I am getting big things up! I know...I'm wierd!

Yes! When I first got mine I thought it was malfunctioning!! It also does it when I run into things (furniture, wall, etc). I am kind of a rambunctious vacuumer.

I thought all vaccums made obnoxious noises when you ran over stuff like that. Carla...I'm the same way. If I bump it into the couch it makes a horrible sound.

That just happened to me today for the first time! Totally freaked me out! It had sucked up a string from the carpet and was totally unraveling the whole thing. That is one powerful vacuum!

When I cleaned my Mom's house...I sucked up small nails. Not on purpose...they were hidden in the carpet. It was an awful noise. They were stuck behind the roller thingie. I took the piece off to get to the roller and it was actually very easy to remove and reattach.

Yep! All the time. We were also warned that would happen. I figure it's a small price to pay not to have to send it in for repairs.

Its a good safety feature but it still scares the piss out of me!! It happens when I bump into furniture too (WTH is up with that?). Oh well, I love my Dyson anyway!!! Glad to see I'm not alone though. I was thinking about calling the company again but I know it's working at least.
