Side note (I'm totally wide awake....and Nadine and I are the only ones on JM!)
I just realized, as I am eating a banana right now, I don't eat the tips of bananas...I break them off and toss them! Do you eat the ends?

Top - yes, bottom - no
Ridiculous, but true story: My brothers convinced me (when I was verrrry young) that there's a nail at the bottom of every banana -- yes, a real nail. Obviously, I know they were lying now but I still can't eat the bottom of a banana! I don't let Connor eat them either.

Yes, I eat the ends, but it's interesting that you brought this up, MM! Just last week, I was giving a banana to a patient at work. She and her family are VERY health-conscious. (i.e., her daughter brings her organic fruit, protein smoothies, etc for her meals) Anyway, I was about to slice off a piece of the banana for her, and her daughter asked me to cut off the tip first. She said her mom never eats the ends of banana b/c pesticides get on those parts.  (This was a banana I got from our dining room at work... I'm assuming that she eats organic bananas at home, so this isn't an issue.)

NO! in fact I slice them off. Not sure why or when I started doing this, but I never remember eating the ends.
