i had my second birthing class today and the lady gave us this string of beads and was teaching us how to use them to get through a contraction like each bead represents a way to breath it was weird at first i thought it was kind of stupid but it really relaxed me i almost wanted to go to sleep right afterwards. Anyone use or heard of using the beads during labor before?
Never heard of it. But there's no harm in trying something innovative.
I personally found that my best results came from techniques that were an extension of the coping skills I've learned on my own over years of dealing with pain in all its everday forms from menstrual cramps to dental surgery.
BUT, a lot of people have never had the chance to learn such coping skills and even those who, like me, have developed such skills are wise to keep an open mind about things that might well work.
