I am really pleased with the ending. Finally Harry steps up to the plate and is less of a wimp and more of the wizard he's supposed to be. I am THRILLED by the twist to Albus' story....he couldnt' have been that squeaky clean, you know?
MY SEVERUS!!!!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
MOre coherent discussion later. I just had to start the thread. LOL

I can't believe about Mad Eye and Fred and Dobby. I cried during those! But I think I cried the most with Lupin and Tonks, knowing that they had thier newborn with Tonks mom.
But who learned magic later in life??? The wand maybe? For doing it all on its own???
Having been a HUGE fanfiction fan, I have read SO many fics who depict the final war almost in the same manner. But, getting there was bloody with JKR!
Questions:
1. What did Harry do with the flask of venom from my Severus' neck? (A moment of silence, please )
2. WHY HEDWIG?!?!?!
3. Whatever became of the whole theory that the mirror would allow Sirius to communicate from beyond the veil? The shard left was simply a looking glass for still living wizards ?
4. I was disappointed with the end for the Malfoys. I could totally see Narcissa and Draco coming over to the good side, but Lucious? I wouldnt' think his character would have fled from Voldemort, even after death. He was to slimy and evil! That kills me.
5. WHY FRED?!?!?!

Flask of Venom? Do you mean the flask that Harry gathered when Snape died? If that's what you mean, it was the memories he put in the pensieve to get the final clues he needed to step up and do what he was destined to do.
And you know...I was ticked about Lupin and Tonks. Not because they died, but because it wasn't mentioned that they died until 3 chapters LATER!
I expected Mad Eye to die. I expected Tom Riddle to bite it, but FRED.
and I must say GOOOOOO Mrs. Weasly...bout time someone put Bellatrix in her place!
it's like a whole other language in this thread! i haven't read a single word of HP, nor seen more than 5 minutes of one of the movies.
it's one of those deals where like the 3rd book was out before I could even think about it, then the movies. i couldn't decide which to start. as a rule, i read the book first, see movie second. but then i'm thinking, "the books are a large commitment of time, maybe i'll just wait until i can watch all the movies at once." which means waiting another few years. but what will i have missed if i never read the books?!?!? will my life been meaningless?!?! so you can see my dilemma.
don't get me wrong, i totally WANT to read the books, but i can't see that happening until my kids move out. and then i might be brain-cell free....
but i AM happy to hear, Heather, that you were satisfied with the ending. if i continue to hear that, i'll keep HP on my list, otherwise, i'm not gonna waste my time just to be pissed off in the end!
It's so worth the time. I LOVE the way the kids literally grow up before your eyes and imagination. It's a whole other world that you can get totally absorbed in. The movies are a bonus...but honestly, I LOVE the books! I have incorporated reading into our afternoon routines....that's the only way I'd get to read!! It's really been great for me. The final scenes are played out in an almost epic manner. Characters are redeemed, questions are answered....it's a great end to the series.
I had to think through the LOTR series. THis book is SO less complicated if you want it to be. You can read it just to read it, or read it as a mystery and pay attention to clues. Either way, it's a wonderful series.
Book one is great, but it's 4-7 that I have truly enjoyed the most because it ceased to become a kid's story for me, and the plots grew up.

I have to admit my favorite part of the book was the "Not my Daughter you..." because I can so relate to wanting to say that if anyone tried to attack one of my kids. However part of me was thinking, this is supposed to be a book for kids and teens, and JK Rowling KNOWS that many of her readers are young. But I am still going to let Doc read the series, just explain it to him when he gets to book 7 (he has me reading it to him now)
Just finshed the book last night!!!! I had to reread book 6 before cause it had been so long!!!!
I was also really happy with the ending (although I could have done without the 19 years later...i thought it was a little cheesy...)...
My question that confused me a little (maybe I'll have to re-read that part to make it clearer)...
I undertsnad why Voldemort never had to power of the Elder Wand... and I also undertsand that Snape did not have it as well because it was agreed that he would kill Dumbledore, but why was the power then goven to Draco (which in turn was Harry since he had his wand)???? Do you undertand my question???
I was also really sad when Dobby died? And what became of Kreacher???
I have to admit to being an absolutely ravenous Harry Potter fan. I even went to the midnight release party. I was completely pleased with the ending!!!! I was sad to lose many of the characters and sad that the story is now complete but I still love my Harry Potter. In fact, I rarely reread books and I will almost certainly read the entire series again.
