If you are hosting...what are you making to eat?

If you are going to someone else's home, will you take a dish?

We're going to DF's aunt and uncle's house for a BBQ. We're bringing our own hot dogs and hamburgers to go on the bbq (at their request), and we'll be bringing something for a side. I'm not quite sure what yet though.

We are having dinner at home, just us 6.

Ham, potatoes, corn, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, white sauce for the veggies, biscuits or buns (will decide tonight). Dessert is an easter basket cake I am making.

We decided that we aren't having the inlaws over.

Everyone is coming here, both families, and most are vegetarians so this is what we are having:
Ham steaks for Tony and his dad
Lentil loaf--my mom makes this; it is like a meatloaf except made with lentils and walnuts
Butternut squash soup (the last of our garden butternuts)
green salad
buttermilk biscuits
spinach pies (quiche-like except more spinach than eggs, and with cheddar cheese topping)
Potato salad (MIL bringing this)

Cheesecake, Easter bread and some sort of pie (Also from MIL)

I'm so glad to see this thread, b/c I'm having trouble deciding what all to serve. So far I know we're having ham, potatoes, roll, and possibly broccoli and/or salad.

Thatch asked me to buy some cabbage at the store. Is that a common Easter dish? I guess he ate that for Easter growing up. I've never cooked it... I just know it really stinks.

It will just be the three of us, so we won't go overboard with food. I guess our menu is probably already big enough. I just need to decide if I want to make a dessert. Thatch is eating healthy right now, so I don't want anything too bad. Maybe some angel food cake and strawberries? Hmmm. I'll have to see what the store has on sale.

We're going to spend Easter with my friend's family.

Normally, we would definitely take something - but this year, they literally commanded me to bring nothing. Apparently, being 3 days away from an EDD renders one unable to cook. LOL

We're going to Willow's house! Lentil loaf is one of my FAVES!

j/k we don't celebrate so it's business as usual here. I think probably tofu and veggie stirfry.

We did our big Easter dinner with the whole family last night. We usually have the whole ham and all the fixin's but this year we decided to change it up so we had BBQ hamburgers, brats, and hot dogs, salad, deviled eggs, old settler beans, chips, slaw...regular BBQ stuff. I was planning to take dessert but my grandma made three cobblers, my aunt made two kinds of cookies (one was made out of cake mix...soooo awesome!) and my cousin brought cookies so I didn't take anything. We had brunch after church this morning with just a handful of family and my great-grandma cooked a ham for sandwiches and then we just had fruit, salads, etc.

Sure you can Linds! It is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!

If you don't like nuts you can leave them out and it is just as good!

INGREDIENTS
4 pounds seedless green grapes ( I usually use 2 lbs green and 2 lbs red...adds more color).
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
1/2 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 ounces chopped pecans
2 tablespoons brown sugar

DIRECTIONS
Wash and dry grapes. In a large bowl, mix together the cream cheese, sour cream, sugar and vanilla. Add grapes and mix until evenly incorporated. Sprinkle with brown sugar and pecans, mix again and refrigerate until serving.

Well as always I am a day late and a dollar short! I went to my cousin's and this is what we had:

Ham
Turkey
Stuffing
Mashed Potatoes
Pepper Rice
Sweet potatoes
corn
green beans
broccoli
rolls

there were a ton of desserts-- I brought cupcakes and cheesecake and there were a few others but I was too stuffed to eat anything!

Thanks Jess! I think I may make this for Lucas' baptism! Sounds divine.
