Well, I've been putting it off for years and I don't think I can put it off any longer. I've been having more and more problems with them, and there's no way out of it. The downfall is that I have to be completely put under for it, which means I need someone with me a few days to take care of me, Isabella, and Isaac! My fiance will be working, so my stepmom is coming to visit and help out for a few days.
I wont be able to breastfeed Isaac for at least 2-3 days, so I'm going to have to pump enough before then! Hopefully he wont get too confused with the bottle so soon. Haha - maybe I could get one of those packs like they used on "Meet the Fockers!!!" LOL - Just Kidding!!!!!!!!!
I would soooo rather going through being pregnant, labor and delivering ten more kids than to have this surgery done! I would even have another back surgery over having this done.
Eeek, I got mine out last August. It was HORRIBLE. Not to scare you or anything, but oh my lord, I was in pain for a week, and I could barely get out of bed, it was so bad. Of course, in my case, one of my wisdom teeth was half-way into my sinus cavity, so my dentist had to do a lot of digging. UGH!
My advice is ICE ICE and MORE ICE. I kept my face numb the entire week I was at home. And then I couldn't open my mouth all the way for three weeks.
Definetely something I never want to go through again.
I think a root canal is the only thing WORSE than getting your wisdom teeth out. *shudder*
I feel for you, it is not a fun experience. On the other hand, when it needs to be done, it needs to be done. I think having my wisdom teeth pulled was one of the worst experiences of my life. Of course, that's when we discovered I'm "sensitive" to Tylenol 3 w/codine. (Sensitive = Makes me throw up a lot!) I ended up just using lots of ibuprofen instead and that worked well.
I just wanted to give you some positives ... I am absolutely scared to death of the dentist. I am scared of needles and I absolutely freak out when I have to have a needle in my mouth. With all of that said, having my wisdom teeth out - piece of cake!
I was put under (completely). I woke up as they were putting in the last stitch. I had some discomfort but not pain like I was having when I had the teeth! I was a little wobbly from being put under but I could walk fine and was fully stable w/in a few hours. Also I was able to eat regular food the next day (they say to wait a few days but I wasn't in any pain).
I hope all goes well for you ... oh and congrats on the baby!!!
I had a positive experience with having my wisdom teeth pulled too. I didn't have to be completely put under though, and it only took a few minutes, didn't feel a thing. I was definitely uncomfortable for a few days, but not in serious pain. I was able to eat regular food within a couple days too. Try not to worry about it, everything will be fine!
I'll give you positives too. Hubby got 2 of his out last year and he did just fine. Yes, he had to eat soft things for awhile but he was okay. But no matter what you think, you can't drive! Hubby tried to convince me to let him drive himself home. Ha! Yeah right! He doesn't remember any of this mind you. He has to get the other 2 out next week so that'll be fun. Hopefully Autumn doesn't decide to make her appearance then.
Thank you Chelsea (marriedc) for my beautiful siggy
Hi! I was nosing around and saw your post! When I had my wisdom teeth cut out, I was eating spaghetti that night afterwards! Truthfully, it was not that big a deal for me. I only had to take one or two of the Tylenol # 3's. Now I do know some people who have had a TERRIBLE time like some of the others here, but I just wanted to let you know that it is not a guarantee that you will be miserable! Good luck and I hope it is not so bad for you!
