So about an hour ago, I went to the bathroom to pee, and when I went to wipe, there was a bunch of blood and really thick discharge. The blood was a dark red. So, I think I lost part of my mucus plug, but I'm not sure. I've also been having irregular contractions the past three days, and Joshua hasn't been moving much.

I have an appointment tomorrow, so should I wait till then? Or should I call my doctor right now? It's only happened once, and the contractions aren't regular, so I'm debating whether or not to see if it happens again today. If it does, I think I'm going to call my doc. So I need some advice.

This is so worrisome for me since I'm a first-time mom! I don't know what to expect! Help!

If it's dark red you probably need to call your doc. I still have no clue if I've actually lost my mucus plug or not, but I haven't had ANY blood and from what I've read if there is blood in it it should be pinkish or brownish...

Please let us know what they say!

I would call the doctor just to be sure. That's what they're there for!

Okay girls, so I called, but my doctor was with a patient, and the nurse was busy, so they told me they'd call me as soon as my doc got done with her patient. Then I guess they took a lunch break, because I called a half hour later and got the answering machine. So I left a message and told them to tell my doc to call me.

So now I'm just waiting.

I hate waiting too! I always have to wait for the doctor to call me back but they are usually pretty fast. that happenned to me last week, i woke up and went to the bathroom and when i wiped there was blood (it was red but more on the pinkish side) and it was mucusey (SP?) I called the doc and they told me to go in to L&D just to make sure everythign was ok...after the doc checked me and left, i asked phil if there was any blood on the doc's glove lol and he said not but there was brown stuff? im assumming it was blood but they did say i had lost my mucus plug...so maybe that is your case as well?! let us know what the doc says and good luck!!!!!

When I was bleeding last January and I told them it was dark red, they freaked and told me to go to L&D right away. If you haven't heard back yet, call and bug them again or just go in.

I agree. If they haven't called back yet, just go in to L&D. That's probably what they'll have you do anyways. That's what I had to do when I had a pinkish discharge.

Did you try calling L&D? The nurses here are always very helpful, especially if you explain that you've been trying to reach the doctor! Keep us posted!

call them back Andrika!!! heck i called L&D first before i ever called the doctor(of course it WAS after hours)it would be best if you called them back then if the doc is still with a patient go straight to L&D or maternal observations(if your hospital has one)
