180 a month isn't bad for pre-k, but it depends on the amount of classtime. We pay more then three times that for preschool. You may want to see if you can just get him into a preschool program a couple days a week. That in itself may help with his speech. You can usually find church programs for about $60-80 a month. Even if it's just two mornings a month, it may surprise you. Just look in the phonebook (yes, they still make them, tho I rarely use one ) and make some calls.
Ack! The same thing happened to my friend's daughter. I think if they qualify for speech services, they should get pre-k. Social skills and speech practice are so interwoven into a young child's speech abilities, it just makes sense.
