hi ladies, i havent been around lately.. it has been a very hectic couple weeks. lemme start by telling you about our poor little baby.
Lily has this moses basket that she lays in, and i move from room to room. sleeps in it at night beside our bed. for you who dont know what they are, it is a big woven basket with some handles.. very nice. well.... my husband was going to carry her to the bedroom one night, and he picked it up by the handles, went to walk away, and dont you know, one of the ###### handles broke loose. Lily fell 3 feet direcly onto hardwood floor. I was standing right there. it was the scariest, and worst thing i have ever seen. we scooped her up, and of course she was screaming her head off. i tried to calm her down and in about 4 minutes she was catching her breath and calming down. well... she was growing a huge goosebump on her head. i didnt know what to do..they have such soft melons, i was worried. so i told me hubby to call the midwife, and see what she says.
my midwife suggested that we do the drive to the city and get her checked for head trauma. i couldnt belive it..i was hoping for her to say..its okay...
so we hoped into the car, and as you may know..we live an hour from the hospital. what a stressful drive, we kept on replaying the horrid event in our heads. we wanted lily to stay awake, and it was sooo scary that she wanted to just sleep.
we get to the emergency room, and they took her vitals right away. everything seemed good. they were very nice, but it takes soo long to see a doctor, but the bumped us up.
the doc finally came around, checked her viatals again, and looked at this ever growing bruise and bump. he ordered us for x-rays. OMG..i was devestated to see her straped onto this cold metal table, and a huge x-ray taken of her head.
not soo good news...
there seemed to be a hairline skull fracture. you can imagine my response. they wanted to check for sure, because babys heads are soo hard to be certain. the x-rays got sent off to vancouver, and they requested that we spend the night, and the radiologist would send the results first thing in the morning.
arrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
so, my hubby had to go back to the farm, and check on the dogs, and get me some supplies. meanwhile, here i am in a friggin hospital, super worried about my baby.
lemme take the time to say... all this while..Lily was a trooper. she was as active as ever, as playful as ever, as hungry as ever, she was acting totally normal. this is the reason i was holding it together.
well, after zero sleep, i waited all morning and around noon the verdict came in.. my lily has a small hairline fracture on her skull.
but there is nothing they do for that.
they didnt seem soo worried, but i was to watch for certain signs of complications.
then i was sent home.
i tell you.. we feel soo bad. here we are..and we broke the one thing that we love more that the whole world!
this was 2 weeks ago now, and i have a beautiful, happy super alert and intellegent little girl. no signs of any complications came from that. the doctor re-checked her, and said that she is great.
we are very lucky..and now we realize how careful we must be, and we know how important she is to us.
all in all... we are doing great, and lily is amazing.
Oh my! I can't imagine the fear you felt when she fell. I am so glad that she is doing well now. Babies are much more resilient than we give them credit for. We are lucky to have strong little warrior aries babies.
Edited...I just realized that Lily is a Taurus. Hopefully there will be no more broken bones in her future!! I am really glad that she is doing well!!
Oh my gosh, I am sooo glad that she is ok. We came close to having a scare a lot like that back at Easter. Take care and again I am glad she is ok. Thank God!
I'm so glad to hear that she is ok!! I know I would have been scared to death!!
I'm not big on sueing people, alot times its not right... but my family is big on all this law stuff... but I think you should do something about this. Your so lucky that your little one is ok, but what if someone else goes and buys the same one you had and it brakes and their little one isnt as lucky as yours. All I'm saying if I were you I just wouldn't let it go w/out anything being done. Best of Luck!
oh sweetie! I know how scary it is to be in a hospital with your little tiny baby! I am so glad that Lily is ok and it was just a precaution! Big hugs to all of you!

Poor little Lily. It is incredibly frightening when your child is injured. I've been extremely lucky that I have not had to make a trip to the ER yet...I say yet because with two boys it's probably inevitable. I'm so glad that your sweet angel is going to be fine.
Big to your whole family!

sweetie, how are YOU the one that broke it, you simply carried it by the handles, it should be fully able to handle normal use...you need to call or write, cuz in my OP that is unacceptable..
OMG! I am so glad she is okay. I think I would have had a heart attack right there! I always worry about something like that happening when I use the Snugli!
