Fake. (because we like to leave it up longer and I don't want to mess with a real one) We used to do 2....one dh and I decorated and ones we did as a family and the kids decorated it how they wanted. We scratched that this year and just let the kids do it all. It looks....festive. Lol. We had it up 2 weeks before Thanksgiving this year just because my 2 year old loved going to the store and seeing them. She loves it! It comes down about a week or 2 into January. (well see if she lets us!)

No theme--all are ornaments we have collected over the years--it's very interesting
We usually do it the 1st Sat. in Dec, but we just did it yesterday
Jan. 1 (I am done with needles by then )
