Lily, my 7 1/2 year old, was invited to her first slumber party this next weekend!! She is so excited, but I'm a little worried. It is at her best friends house, and I adore her mom and trust them completely, but I'm just worried about my little girl growing up!!
Has your 06er had a slumber party at a friend's house before? At what age do you think its appropriate?
My kids have not had the opportunity to go to a slumber party at a friend's house yet, though they would love to do it. If they were invited to one, I would let them go. As much as I don't want them to grow up, I think slumber parties are a great opportunity for kids to show responsibility and know that they are trusted by their parents.
We have "pseudo" slumber parties here at the house where the kids "sleep over" in each other's room. They think that it is the best thing ever to do that!
My kids have not been to any yet. Beth was invited to one when she was five, and I thought that was too young. I wasn't crazy about the other family either...if it was someone I knew and trusted I might have felt differently.
I was thinking of letting Beth host one for her birthday next year - so age eight.
I'm really looking forward to Lily going, I adore the family that is holding it... we are great friends with the mom and dad... and if there is any family that we would want her first slumber party to be with, its this family. I will let you know how it goes!
