I'm really worried about my DH working in this heat. He's in and out of a semi, lifting hundreds of pepsi cases all day. His truck doesn't have a/c and the uniform he has to wear is heavy. I keep nagging him to stay hydrated, but the heat index is going to be 105 today. I wish he would call off once in awhile... like today.

I'm sorry, hun. I know that can be hard...my dad used to work pouring concrete, and almost wound up in the hospital a couple of times because of the heat!

i will think of him, and hope he'll be just fine. same here, the forcast was "close to 100" today, and my step-dad works in the car plants, and it's 100 in there, even when it's not this hot out. my mom suggested he stay home today, too. :S

I'm in NE Ohio and work at a country club. We had a huge outing today of 208 people. You can imagine how stressful it is to keep that many golfers (especially the out of shape ones) cool and hydrated on the course. Thanks goodness I'm done for the day.

I am right with you on being worried about dh. My dh works for Coca cola. And he loads the truck and all too.
So weird... We live pretty close to one another and both of our DH's work for a soda company.

That is weird. Very small world! But you know my DH won't let me play with you... you're married to the enemy. LMAO
I'm glad I'm not the only one worried about this heat wave and our men working in it. My DH drank alot of gatorade and Aquafina today. Plus he said that 99% of the customers he delivers Pepsi to has a/c, so he would cool off for a few minutes then get back in the truck and drive to the next customer. Its supposed to be even hotter tomorrow.

Thats amazing that his truck doesnt have a/c... I cant believe that a company that large would not have all trucks with AC in it..

Oh my gosh I don't know how these guys (your guys) do it. Around here there are so many people that work outside and it is literally 115 degrees. I hope your hubbies stay hydrated and get in the AC as much as possible. I break out in a sweat just walking from my house to the car.

They bought a new fleet of trucks a few months ago.. 17 or 18 trucks. In 12 of them, the A/C is there but it doesn't work. Since they're new trucks, they're under warranty and the company mechanics can't touch them. They're slowly getting them done through the dealership, but Pepsi can only send one truck at a time to be serviced and guess where on that list my DH's truck is... #11!!!

step-dad mentioned that the workers were all given unlimited free water and pop today. GOOD. must have cost a fortune, but it's so much better than the alternative!!! and these past few days, he's actually had cups of water around the house. i accidentally drank one, thinking it was mine, cos usually, no one else has water... that's how bad it is... us poor northerners, we're not used to this!
i'm so glad tim is off work right now... he works in random places, sometimes outdoors, and when it's indoors, it's usually a plant that is very hot to begin with. :S very frightening.
and crazy about the A/C...
