I just got back from my Dr's appt and I think there's a good chance of
me having the baby within the next 48 hours! But now that I say that
I probably won't. I started having contractions that averaged about 6
min apart at 3:00 pm yesterday and they haven't let up. They've
actually gotten more intense! Bad enough to wake me up several times
during the night (and take a hot shower in the middle of the night)
but not bad enough to go into the hospital. My Dr checked me and I'm
dilated to a 3 and 70% effaced, and I'm going back in in a couple of
hours to get checked again. If I've progressed at all I will be
admitted to the hospital! If I haven't progressed at all then I'll
wait until the contractions get bad enough or go away. If nothing's
happened by next week I'm scheduled to be induced on Wednesday the
15th. So, I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens when I
go back in in a couple of hours.
So, that's the update. Wish me luck!

I went back to the Dr and didn't get checked because I got frustrated with the wait and left. That's the condensed version. I wasn't suppose to be going in for an appt, I was suppose to just go in and be squeezed in real quick. Instead I waited 1 hour in the waiting room and 30 minutes in the exam room before finally getting to frustrated and leaving. I was having contractions the whole time and had my hubbie and Keira with me and it was just to much to sit there for that long, especially after I had already done the whole waiting thing earlier today at my first appt. So I don't know if I've progressed anymore, but I'm still having contractions, they're getting pretty intense, and my back is starting to hurt. My Dr called me later and apologized and said to go to L&D when things get worse and have them check me there. He also said that since I'm still having contractions (we're going on 29 hours now) and they've gotten more intense it looks like he'll be coming today or tomorrow. Well, since today's coming to a close I've got my hopes on tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be much longer.

YAY, Betsy!!! Sounds like there's a very good chance that your gut feeling was right and Garrett will arrive on the 8th!! I'm sorry you had to wait at the office --- it's frustrating enough waiting, let alone while you're in labor!!! I hope things progress quickly once you go to the hospital so you can meet your baby boy A.S.A.P.!! How exciting!!

no baby yet. So sad about it, but I'm ok for now because I'm on Morphine.
Tuesday night I started to get contractions 5 min apart that were painful, so we went in. Like magic they stopped while I was being monitored so I didn't stay, but the nurse was apprehensive to let me go because when she checked me I was at a 4!!! So I had made progress from that morning, but I really wanted to go home to my own bed and get some rest so we went home. The contractions didn't stay consistent yesterday, but they were still coming every once in awhile (probably 2 or 3 an hour) but this time every time they came they were painful. Nothing happened yesterday though. Last night I started getting really painful cramping and achiness resignating in my lower back and lower abdomen. I just feel like I'm in a long drawn out labor, which I technically am, but my body really is feeling it! So this morning as soon as an hour passed with contractions coming 6 min apart again we went back to the hospital, hoping I had progressed even more and they'd have to keep me. Well, I was still at a 4, but the contractions were still coming so they monitored me again. The nurse was very sympathetic and really awesome! After an hour of monitoring she checked me again and said I hadn't really changed much, but that she could tell that I was softer then I had been an hour earlier, so I had changed a bit. I asked her if she could strip my membranes and she said she technically couldn't because I'm not 39 weeks yet, but she said she could be real aggressive when checking my cervix, and said that with a wink. She said it'll be pretty much the same thing, but on record it won't be seen as stripping of the membranes. So she did that, and then gave me a Morphine shot so I could go home and get some much needed rest. And oh man, was I in need of it! 3 days of early labor and nights without much rest and my body has just been worn out and totally exhausted! So I went home and took a 4 hour nap! and I'm still really tired, so I'm going to bed right now. It's a little discouraging that he hasn't come yet, but the most discouraging thing is my body going through all this work for this long and him not coming yet! Bu since I'm on Morphine right now the world is good again. lol With Keira, the day before she was born I had my membranes stripped (and I was at a 4 dilation) and I had a morphine shot, and about 10 hours later my water broke. So, (once again) here's hoping! Please come soon, baby! Mommy can't take much more!!!!

Geez! This little guy is really making you work, huh? That's so nice that you had a sympathetic nurse, sometimes that really makes all the difference, in terms of having a good birthing experience. I hope things progress quickly now that "aggressive" measures have been taken. I hope you slept good last night. Keep us updated -- I know you will! Will be checking in as often as I can, Betsy!! Good luck!

aw, so sorry it's taking so long, now that you are right on the verge of having him. very cool that you got such a sweet nurse, though. hope that rest you got last night was your last-minute saving-of-energy nap, before going in and giving birth, today!!! come meet your family/the world, baby G!!
