if so, are they a problem? i am having a huge problem with missy climbing steps. she is very good at it, but she has taken tumbles, and so she's not allowed... i won't feel comfortable with her on the steps for a while, but she is always there....
We have lots and lots of stairs, too many.......
Ben is very good and stable at climbing up and down. I use baby gates but they are just to keep him on one floor at a time. All our stairs are split levels and carpeted so if he did fall, it wouldnt be far or on to a hard surface.
We have stairs, but they don't seem to be a problem for us. Andrew has mastered those things. He even tries to stand upright and hold the bannister to walk up them. His legs are just a tad bit too short just yet. Fortunately we have been lucky, he has been very careful on the steps.
We don't have stairs, and I have a sneaky suspicion that even if we did, we might not have too much of a problem. She's scared of stairs. (Go figure) She knows how to climb them because she has them at both grandparents' houses and at our small group. But she won't go near them w/out a "Hand?" . That's my child.

We have stairs and I have gates but I hardly use them any more. Maddie knows how to turn around on her tummy and slide down them and she wizzes up them like a champ. I usually use the gate if I am trying to keep her on one level. We have split level stairs so they are a 1/2 a flight. and carpeted. She fell down them when she was about 14 months old and it was awful.
Jayla is good at stairs. We have a split level, so it's like 10 or so steps (at most) for either level. She goes up on her hands a knees usually and down either on her bum, or on her feet holding on to the railing. They're not carpeted, so I usually am quite close by when she's going up and down....just in case.

We have stairs but Naden has mastered them. I was conidering taking down the gate cause it gets in the way but think I will hold off to be safe. He is making me nervous though because he used to go down them on his belly but now he decided he wants to go down face foward just by holding the poles. It freaks me out and so I have to stay one step ahead to guide him.
My mom has stairs and she watches Dane a few days a week. He is a stair master he holds on to the rails coming down and is a pro at going up. She also has the split level so tehre are only about 4-5 stairs at a time he has tumbled a few times but it was only down a stair or two and he just laid there for a min then got up and kept going. He can do it all by himself but if I am walking down he likes to hold my hand
We have stairs too and we have gates at both ends. I will not take them down until he has mastered them and by that time if we have no. 2 we can leave them up longer. The bottom gate is one of those retractable gates so it does not get in the way. The top gate is one of the wooden ones and now we have formed such a habit of closing it that it is no problem. Also, the top of the stairs are in the middle of the play room so it is important to have it there. I do not have to worry about him playing by himself with the stairs.

missy has pretty well mastered the steps, herself, but i am just not at all comfortable letting her on them alone. she likes to wander, and run off while i'm cleaning a mess or cooking, or doing something intently. it frightens me. my mom practically has heart attacks and screams when either of my kids ever got by steps, so i think this sort of comes from her. i'm more laid back about it, but i can't have my kids around steps with her, without getting yelled at.
