When you take your kids to get professional pictures, where do you take them? A department store photographer? A specialty photographer? A friend/family member with a professional grade camera?

We usually just do our own pictures but when we do get pictures done we have to go to Olan Mills because its the only place in town. Its also SUPER expensive! (Hence why we do our own). I wish our Walmart had a photo place but they dont. I love walmart!

I alternate between Kiddie Kandids in Babies R Us and Picture People at the mall. I like Picture People's images better, but the people that work there are not very kid friendly.

I'm thinking of going to a specialty photographer for family portraits, but it is way too expensive.

We usually do JCPenney or Picture People, though this summer I tried Portrait Innovations and much prefer them. There isn't one very close to us, so we have to plan very carefully. We are getting our family pics taken this weekend!! All Damon's brother and sister, us and all three kids. Should be interesting.....

See, I wish we had Kiddie Kandids and Picture People to give us more options here.

I don't know if all of our Wal-marts no longer have their photographers, but the Wal-mart on our side of town no longer has one.

JCP and Sears have photographers here.

And then, we DO have Portrait Innovations!!! That's where we take our kids to all the time. I used JCP twice and was not impressed either time with the price, number of pictures, or quality of pictures. For, maybe $20 more, I get ten times the quality of pictures, I get them right away versus waiting 10-14 days for the pictures, and I get nearly twice as many pictures when I got to PI versus JCP. It's worth the extra $20-40 I spend at PI.

I just wish we had more options in our city! So, other than the two deptartment stores and PI, it's professional photographers which are ultra expensive. Before I realized we had PI, I had my maternity pictures (from my 1st pg) done at a photographers. I did not realize how expensive they were. It was highway robbery. However, that photographer has a monthly special where you bring your child in for ONE pose among some awesome props. So, I have done that several times as well.

We had been taking them to Sears but it is just becoming too much money. Both kids are getting school pictures this year so I am not worried about getting Christmas ones done. Plus we just had the professional photographer take family photos of us.

I am going to try and take nice looking photos of the kids in their outfits here at home or I might get my SIL to take some as she does it as a hobby.
