Does anyone do an allowance?

DH and I have been talking about it, and I think we are going to do a 50 cent a week allowance. That way it will give her some practice counting coins. We're going to do some sort of chore chart - but I'm not sure exactly how yet. Her "chores" are keeping the shoes neat at the front of the house, putting up silverware from the dishwasher, and cleaning up toys.

We'll let her earn some extra money for putting up her and Joe's clothes from the washer. (I fold them and put them in a basket - she takes them to the rooms and puts them in the drawers, the part I hate the most haha!) and probably some other things going above and beyond.

She REALLY wants a pillow pet. I have not problem with a pillow pet, but we have tons of stuffed animals and things almost exactly like a pillow pet! Maybe she can save up some money for one! (though 50 cents a week will take a while haha!)

I too want to start allowance with Abby- right now I give her my spare change a lot--which really adds up! I just don't know what a good amount is for a child this age?
