So we got back from Denver last night from Camille's appointments. First was radiology for a renal u/s, then was Urology to follow up from the surgery and to read the results of the u/s and last was cardiology. The bad news first. Based on the u/s, her kidneys look worse than they did before the surgery but there is no reflux. He said that that certainly isn't impossible but it isn't very common. He thinks that perhaps everything in her urinary tract, kidney's included, was so stressed out before the surgery and that having the operation just created more trauma. He is hopeful that it will get better. So we go back in December for another u/s and follow up. There is a small chance that she will have to have another surgery to kind of "fix" the trauma if her kidneys are not better. Otherwise he said she looked great and was doing very well. Now for the good news. She had to have an EKG and then they decided to do an echo cardiogram in cardiology. They discovered that these premature beats she is having are causing a heart murmur. Nobody has detected it before because the premature beats have been masking it. Here is an example of how her heart beats: Beat Beat Beat BeatBeat Beat. An in that long pause after the early beat, more blood pools up in her heart and causes the murmur. The reason why this is good news is that her heart gets more regular as she exercises rather than worse and her heart if perfect structurally. They said they are not worried at all and that no follow up is needed. They said we just need to make sure that her electrolytes stay stable and as she gets older we have to keep an eye on her during physical activities. They said that if she can't keep up with the other kids or is the first one to be tired during a physical activities, we need to have her re-checked to be safe.

Now for Addy. That little squirt has been sick for three weeks now with a fever most days sometimes reaching up to 105. I have called the doctors over and over and they say "wait it out. Something is going around." She had diarrhea and gas for most of the three weeks too. Well Friday I had had it. She woke up from her nap blood red and had a fever of 104.5. This is after we had been alternating Tylenol and ibuprofen for three days. I took her to the ER where he told me she had a cold. My butt she had a cold!!!! Then Saturday night I almost took her in again she was so sick. Her temp was up to just over 105. But she eventually went to sleep and was a little better Sunday morning. Well DH had to take care of her while I was gone with Camille and she was not getting any better that day or yesterday. So my mom called the doc and made them see her yesterday. The results (no UTI, by the way, I made them check at the ER because of her history): she has the tail end of a virus and the Eustachian tubes in her ears are plugged. Plus cutting two molars (which I already knew) is contributing to the pain and fever. She was still pretty cranky today and you can tell that her ears hurt but right now we are just waiting for them to pop. The doc said that she doesn't really have any signs of an ear infection but to just keep an eye on it for now.

I can't believe that poor girl has more kidney problems. I was hoping you'd come back with all great news. I hope that next time you go for her checkup that things have been improved. Give her some hugs and kisses from me for being such a brave big girl! She deserves a pony!

I'm so sorry Addy has been so sick. I can't believe they told you to wait out a fever that high. That is absolutely freaking ridiculous! I hope she's on the mend now though.

Oh, it seems like you can never catch a break, Ash! I'm so sorry you didn't get good news about her kidneys. I can imagine it would take a while to heal after all that time (just waiting for the surgery!) so I am praying that things look better next time!

That is good news about her heart though. What a relief!

I'm sorry Addy is sick, too. I hope her molars come in soon and that her fever stays down. I'd be pretty mad if they told me to wait it out for a temp. of 105! It's too hard to just sit and watch your baby sick.

Poor girls! You ladies all need a vacation!
I hope the news gets better about the kidneys - I'm sure her little body has been overwhelmed.

And, I cannot believe they told you to wait out a fever that high. That was like last year when Kellan was coughing so hard that he was purple and not breathing and they told us it was "just a cold". The next night Kellan was hooked up to IV's and breathing machines at the major children's hospital with whooping cough.
I think that the ER must get so many people with "sniffly" babies that they just start acting as if everyone there is exaggerating.

I hope your little ladies are on the mend soon and I hope you are getting some rest.
