How has the economy effected you or has it had no real impact on your day to day life?

It hasn't really effected us much, but my hours at work are about to go way down so we are starting to be more 'fugal' by only making one trip to town a week, not eating out, not buying unnecessary items, things your suppose to do anyway.

We had to tighten up this year, but that's because I became a SAHM mom and my salary was cut by a huge amount. Babysitting is helping out, but we are definitely living more frugally. Now gas prices and grocery prices are not doing us any favors, but I already knew this year would be tight before the economy went into the crapper.

It hasn't really affected us much either, just the huge picture is scary. You see huge companies going under and that scares me. DH works for Progressive and they are HUGE and his job is secure but you just never know. The economy in general makes me nervous right now.

Yeah it really hasnt effected us either. We have been trying to cut back on our spending anyway, weve had a string of bad luck (until the house) and thats caused us some financial worries, but thats about it. Im with Paula though, the big picture scares the crap out of me. Its scary!!

Did you see about that town in Cali that is like 71% forcloseures? Thats really scary!!!

Oh yeah, foreclosures are really scary. Everytime I see something on that, I think of people like Melissa trying to sell their house! I just hope someone can do something to reverse all of this.

As for us, we've noticed the grocery bill go way up in the past few months. It's amazing. They said that while gas prices are going down again (at least until they're driven back up by foriegn oil companies) food costs are not.

Oh yeah things are terrible here in Michigan. People losing their jobs left and right. Job cutting at my hospital has been going on for months now. Our hospital is 17 million dollars in debt. Every year it goes up. I hate to say it but a huge part of it is all of our medicaid patients.

It's definitely scary and I think things will get even worse before they get better. I don't envy whoever becomes the next President because they've got one heck of a mess to clean up and it isn't gonna happen over night.

It hasn't effected us to much. But alot of people i know have lost there jobs and there homes. The forclosures in California are insane. It looks like a ghost town in some of the areas on the out skirts of the main city. They built all of these huge development 5 years ago and now no one can afford them. My SIL house went down in value but 60% they own more then there house is worth. But in the city its the same nothing has changed at all. My family owns a property mangement company and we have more people wanting to rent more then ever. Its almost impossible to own a house in the city on a middle class sallary. I really hope that are next president can turn this all around.

I forgot to add that Joel has lost about 1800.00 dollars out his retirement account. That is really the only loss we've taken.
