We got to the hospital at 6am. We had to wait a little while. When we got back to the room they examined him and went over everything then gave him some liquid 'calming' medicine that made him drunk...I dont remember the name of it. but he was pretty silly. I got a short video clip of him below to show you how he was acting and how he looked. They finally got started around 7:30am...The surgery took a little longer than expected. The only time he cried is when they 1st took him back and he was walking away from me. That was sad But the nurses all bragged on him and said how good he was and how he was one of the best behaving babies they've ever had, so thats good It took longer because not only did he have a hernia, but he also had some fluid in his testicular tube thing...That was caused from the hernia so they had to drain that while they were in there. He was waking up right as they were wheeling him down out of the OR recovery. So pitiful...His little throat is so raspy and sore from the breathing tube. It kinda freaked me out at first. He is still now very groggy and sleeping. Ive got to try to keep his activity limited over the next 2 days. He goes back for a follow up with the doctor in December....Here are the pics.
For comparison...here is the normal happy Dylan: (taken yesterday)
Here he is before surgery today, when he was on the goofy medicine (including the video):
And after surgery.... Covered my face cuz I look like poo, lol.
Awww...poor little guy. I think drunk is the best word to describe Dylan on meds! But he still sure is cute!! I love that first pic of the "regular" Dylan!
I'm glad to hear that all went well and that he's already back home. Get some rest...both of you! Hopefully this is the end of Dylan's surgical experiences!

I'm so glad it went ok. Dylan is cute even when he's drunk! How are you holding up?[/b]
Im ok thanks. I handled it alot better than I thought I would. The only time I cried is once right after
he went into surgery and I had snapped at DH about something and he was stupid enough to ask "what is
wrong with YOU?" Then I was like in tears and said "Dont even start with me right now, you know
whats wrong with me!!!!" So........yeah, lol. He felt bad after that.
He is STILL sleeping. I made him wake up for a minute and drink some juice and he was right back out. Poor baby
And Im fighting with the pharmacy trying to get his pain med filled The doctor didnt specify the prescription when he wrote 'codiene' he didnt specify that it was Tylenol and now they have been waiting over 3 hours for the dr to call back and verify since they cant just take my word. GAH. I just called the nurse and griped to her about this and she is supposed to be finding another available dr to get it signed off on so the freaking pharmacy can get the med filled. If my baby doesnt have his medicine tonight and is waking up in pain, someone will pay!!!!!!
Men really just don't think the same way that we do!
That's ridiculous about his meds. I hope they get it straightened out. It's probably best if he sleeps for as long as possible. That way it gives his body time to heal and he won't be awake to think about the pain. Plus you won't have to try to keep him still!
I am so glad that it went well Melissa! HUGS!!!!! I think it is harder emotionally on the parents than it is the child. They let us carry Camille to the OR and be with her while they put her under because I would have not been able to handle letting them carry her off to the OR awake.
Surgery or no surgery, he is still a doll!!
The pain med situation should not be happening. How do they think he will be feeling when he wakes up and has no pain meds??? I mean, DUH! I hope they get it straightened out ASAP.

Aww, poor Dylan!!! I am so glad everything went ok. You must feel so relieved now that it is over!
A little while ago when I was watching the video, Megan heard it and came over to see what I was watching and when she saw Dylan on my monitor she bent in and gave him a kiss!
Aww what a sweetie! I'm so glad things went well! The sore throat and raspy voice will go away soon. Poor little guy. *hugs* Hope you're doing ok!!

OMG that was adorable!!! What a little cutie!! Im soo glad everything went well!!! I hop eyou were able to get the pain meds situation all worked out before he needed them!!!
Yeah I went back up to the pharmacy around 5 yesterday and they did have it filled and the doctors office had finally called, so we were able to get his medicine, thank goodness. And he needed it last night to so Im glad! He is got some energy back this morning but still a tad sluggish. Im worried about the testicle they drained that tube on though...its pretty red and swollen, doesnt seem right to me. Im gonna call the doctor about it in a little bit and see what they say, Im worried about infection or something. Its swollen about 3-4x its normal size and it wasnt like this yesterday.
