1. my mom had a mammogram and they called her back in for further testing. they found a dense band or something. she's freaked out and now there is family drama b/c my aunt didn't get the braca test done when she was diagnosed so now we don't know if any of the rest of us would be at genetic risk or not or if it was just a fluke diagnosis for her. so we are waiting to see if she'll get tested, or if my mom will end up with the cancer or not. god i hope not i can't even imagine that.

2. my grandparents are moving next week to indiana, and so for the last years of their life i won't be able to just pick up the kids and go see them, and it's far enough away that getting to go see them at all will be a huge undertaking. so that really depresses me, and next week dad is cmoing up to finish packing their place and move them down to indy. : (

Aww, I'm so sorry to hear both pieces of news Steph. Take it one day at a time with your mom and just try not to get too ahead of yourself. I know that's easier said than done but just try to stay positive and not go crazy over the unknown just yet.

It stinks that your grandparents will be moving so far away. I wish they were closer, for your sake and to see the girls more. Will they be staying in their own home or a retirement/elderly living facility?

HUGS!!

They will be staying in an assisted living apartment building type thing 5 minutes away from my aunt. So it's a better living situation for them than their current place would be....but my whole life they have never been more than an hour away from me. And all these years I have been the only one in the state with them, and now they are leaving. I only got out there like once every 6 weeks or something to see them, which of course now i feel really guilty about, but at least i COULD go see them when i wanted to. now it woudl be a 4-5 hour drive, a hotel stay, etc. too hard with kids.

Ugh, that sucks! And of course looking back, hindsight is 20/20, but I still think you went to see them a lot and had great times with them and the girls. And you can still go see them, it will just involve more time and planning.

I am sorry you are going through so much!

I hope your mom is okay and it turns out to be nothing to worry about! Isnt there a bloodtest you can get to see if you carry the gene? I will keep her in my t&p!!! KUP!

I can relate on the grandparent thing. Mine are an hour and a half away and I have 3 sets of them... sort of... my moms mom, and my Dads parents who are seperated after my grandmother left me blind grandfather who has emphysema. That made it extra difficult to visit all of them! I dont see them nearly as much as I would like to. I hope that you can find time to visit them somehow! My grandparents are so special and my grandfather is the one who it bugs me most not being able to hop in the car and go see. He is really alone

Can't your mom get the genetic test done?
Either way, I pray all is ok.

And I am sorry about your grandparents--it is hard, i know.

Big hugs coming your way!!!! I hope everything ends up being OK with you Mom and I hope your grandparents move goes OK. That stinks that they will be so far away. The kids will have to start doing some craft projects that you can mail their way and hopefully you can make it down for a visit every once in awhile.

I'm so sorry Steph. I'm praying everything is fine with your mom...and that's really sad about grandparents but hopefully you'll find a way to still see them as much as possible.

For 2000 dollars that she doesn't have. The first person in the family is 2000 and then everyone else is 100. So if my aunt would have gotten it done, the rest of us could do it for 100. Bleh.
