I have a problem where Elijah is so into his trains right now I can't get him interested in anything else.. He dosen't like to swim anymore(can't say I blame him after the dog almost drowning him), and I can't get him to go to his friends house.. I am using it as a crutch to get him to go potty in the potty though..

Ben is really into cars and trains right now but he does have other interests.

Try having certain times of the day where he can play trains and then move on to th next thing. You could even make a little chart showing something like free play time (he can play trains or whatever he wants), art time, story time, tv time etc...whatever else you want to add. It might help him learn to transition from one activity to the next.

It's normal for kids to become obsessed with things. They outgrow it and move on soon enough.
There was a phase where Emily didn't want to do anything but watch Snow White. Literally. She'd watch it over and over and over and over and over... lol Get the idea?
With Em, I rotate her toys. She has bins and I swap them out every week or so. Keeps her interested in her toys and gives her a variety of learning and play.

You could even try letting him take a train with you guys, when you go somewhere.

I don't see anything wrong with that..Jayden was into trains..since he loves Thomas..now we bought him a car mat with cars and now he is into that..and I got Sean who isnt into anything but tearing up the house ha..Get him outside in the fresh air around other kids-at the park, take some toys with you..bet he will start branching out and getting into other things soon..are u using the train to play with as a reward to go potty? i stopped the rewards long time ago..now he is forced to go when I see he hasn't gone for over an hour...is there a problem when kids are only into one thing?

I would do the bins rotating thing Paula if I had all of his toys.. He has a big thing in storage.. Hopefully soon enough he will have a bedroom again, and I can bring out all his toys, and get rid of the baby ones.. LOL

Thanks for all the advice I will definitely try some of it.. I think the schedule sounds good so I can get him time to do more learning and get him ready for schooling and what not..
