I know this has been touched apon, but I wanted some opinions before we went and bought some of this stuff. We really want to get tyler some sort of handheld type game/toy for xmas. He is always trying to play with Brinas nintendo DS, but i dont want him to break it so we dont let him play with it. Does anyone have any recommendations or opinions on handheld games/toys. Let me add he is a really smart kid and could probaby figure out how to use the toy in no time. I do need someting easy to use though nad easy to understand for him. thanks for the help ladies

We got the Tag reader but that's it. The iXL looks cool, but it's expensive and I read some reviews that said it's not very kid tough.

Blake started with a v-smile game system and now has moved on. Addie plays with with but loves the DSi the best. She has dropped it and it still works. She loves the camera feature and the flipnotes and songs.

My recommendation is the Leapster 2. My 2 older ones each have 1 and play with them on a daily basis. They have been thrown, dropped, more times then I can count and still work perfectly. I also strongly suggest you get the docking station for it. My kids play with theirs so much that I would go broke buying batteries if we didn't have the docking stations. It is totally worth it. HTH

We just got Tristan the tag reading system and he loves it, however he plays with Ryland's ds all the time and it has been dropped many times and still works great, you can also buy armor for the ds too if you want
