Gunner has started just making up random words. Do all kids do this? Sometimes the context he uses them in makes them sound as if maybe they are not the sweetest of words. He will say stuff like "Well your a papeek!" What is this? How do you handle it? The words change and he never uses the same word longer than a day. I have just started telling him that we dont use make believe words...but Im not sure that is the right way to handle it
Gabe totally does this too. But he hasn't used it in a bad context yet. It's mostly when we're playing with toys and he will imagine it's something else. We have this green plastic horn that when it comes in to the bath its called a `bath gooter`and it `goots` people which is just getting someone wet. If it were getting to a point where he was using made up words too often and using it in a bad context I would just tell him that even though he understands what it means someone else might not and when people can`t understand him they wont be able to help him with what he needs or wants so its important to use words that a lot of people can understand not just him.
Dylan has a few things like he doesn't say "locked", he will say it is "blocked" lol... and you can't correct him because he is certain he is the one saying it correctly!!!
And he always comes up with something silly that's completely made up, especially if he's trying to think of a "comeback" when him and Mikaela are fighting... I think a recent one was calling her a "poppy-poopa!"
I think it's pretty common. Ben has made stuff up or he'll get some random word or noise stuck in his head and he'll just randomly say it. Yesterday he kept going "bok bok bok" like a chicken for no reason at all but he thought it was hilarious.
Yeah, I believe it's normal. Austin does this all the time now, ever since he got into preschool and befriended this other little boy. I guess they bounce made-up words off each other, because he thinks it's just hilarious lol! He does have a couple of made-up words that sound like slang for a female's genitalia or a four-letter word that starts with S He's not saying them, it just sounds like it if you are only halfway listening lol! Wouldn't worry about it. It could actually be a sign of good creativity!
