Has your LO been to the dentist yet? Have they had any cavities?

As many of you know, our kids start going to the dentist at about 1 year since MIL works for a pediatric dentist (and we get all their dental for free!). So Xander has already gone like 6 times.

He had an appt on Saturday and has 2 cavities Not only that, but he had 2 cavities at his LAST visit, which have already been filled.

Yes we brush his teeth every night. Apparently he has soft enamel. Great. So now we're switching to a fluoride toothpaste & rinse. Hopefully that will help.

I hate that he has to go back and get more fillings But THANK GOD for free dental care!

We have not gone yet but it's been on my list of things to do. No idea what Holden's mouth will come up with. Brush twice a day, doesn't drink juice- but you never know!

We took Caleb in January and he did the whole check up but "declined" (lol) the x-ray part. So we don't know! We are going again in June though. So hopefully he'll cooperate.

Kami has been once and we'll take her again this summer.

We brush her teeth only once a day.....Jayme is on AM duty since I leave for work, and I know he isn't brushing them. We used a fluoride toothpaste early on. We water down her juice, but they give pure juice at school which I hate. She doesn't eat much candy...but we brush her teeth really good before bed.

I have some enamel too. I hope the girls don't inherit that from me.
Starr, when can they put sealers on X's teeth? Poor X having to go for more fillings:-(

We were supposed to go tomorrow, but the dentist canceled because her mom is having surgery. So we are going next week. It will be Annabelle's first time. Maddie went about 7 months ago and did well, but there were no x-rays.

Just remembered something the dentist said...
She said that fruit snacks are the worst thing for kids because they get stuck in between their teeth and can cause cavities. So I try to avoid fruit snacks....funny because the previous Halloween I bought those instead of candy thinking that I was doing something good so kids didn't load up on candy.

Liz, that's so true about the fruit snacks. We stopped buying them, but he probably gets them at school.

My MIL says raisins are just about the worst thing. They are almost pure (natural) sugar and they also get stuck in the teeth.

I don't think you can seal the teeth until they are adult teeth....I'll have to check with my MIL. Hopefully the fluoride rinse will help!

I got my teeth sealed at about 11 years old, but it doesn't last but 5-10 years-ish?

I tried to make Makenna an appointment and they said they would prefer to wait till she starts preschool. Kinda annoyed because they used to say they would see them at 3. She is great about brushing on her own and telling everyone else they need to brush too.

allison went for the first time a month ago and she has 1 cavity and will have it filled tomorrow actually. Apparently her tooth in the front kind of overlaps another and food got stuck in there nad caused a cavity. She also has softer enamel like X. I am DREADING this filling tomorrow. I water down her juice, she doesn't get much candy and when it is it is usually m&ms which the dentist says are best because they just melt away unlike chewy stuff.

Starr that's good to know about raisins too. Maddie used to love those, but hasn't had any in a while.
Maddie likes to floss with her princess flossers. I found some at Christmas time but haven't found any since. She is picky about that stuff.
