When will your kids be registering for Kindergarten, I guess I was already supposed to have Rock on our school's list, they are sending home the registration packet with Courtney on Friday though.

I don't have to do a new registration for Ben. He goes to preschool now and it's part of our public school system so he's already registered.

Funny that you posted this b/c I just called this morning. Registration is March 15th and the cost is $145. I about fell off my chair. Yes, I'm a former teacher, but I never dealt with registration and didn't pay attention to the cost. The last I remember is bringing my book fee money to school in high school and it was around $75. Of course, that was 16+ years ago, so inflation has definitely had it's way.

Our kindergarten here is only half day, which stinks. Caden is ready for full day and my only option for that is private school. We moved out of the city to not have to pay for private school, so I guess he's got one more year until he's full time.

$145 for half day! Ouch! I don't think ours has a fee! If it does, I guess I will find out in April. Christen, I saw you posted about on FB and got a little scared that I was supposed to be doing something by now.

They haven't set the date yet and I can't remember, but seems like it's usually in April?

I only know because I had to flip past the city channel when our DVR was broken. LOL I had no idea when it was. I don't think our fees for elementary are that bad. Kayla's worst was 6th grade because of camp and it was $280 total for the year. :/
This year it's $180, I think.

I kinda wish our Kindergarten was still half day, if I sent him to the public schools it is, or maybe it doesn't exist. Idaho has made it no longer something people HAVE to have, so they've done things in the school district to make it every other day, or cut it completely and such. Budget cuts are wonderful. However, Rock I think could use an ease into it situation. He'll be full day though, they switched to full day at his future school last year.

haha I don't think the regular new Kindergarten kids at our school have to register, I think they'll do it next month so the screening can happen in March. But those with kids already at the school have to register early to ensure we get a spot. I know public schools normally do it later than we do.

I gotta say you guys are shocking me with these fees. (Our fees are higher...$400, but again, not a public school, so that was a choice...). I can't believe the public school are charging so much, it's required, what do they do for people who can't pay, do they have something you can do to waive the fee or get financial aide? Not that you'd know if you didn't need this option, but...

Yeah, people on welfare have lower fees or no fees, depending on your income.

OK, I only have to pay $50 for the first piece of paper I turn in, because he has to get accepted before I can actually register

It just recently changed last year , it used to be the term after they turn 5, but they changed it to term after they turn 4 in which rhianna/lacey case is only 3 months after! rhianna is one of the youngest in her class... alot of her friends already turned 5 (some turned 5 in november!!) bless her

I wouldn't like that! I just don't think they are ready. So do they then graduate at 17 instead of 18?

My mom was only 17 when she graduated. The cut off back then was November 1st you had to turn 5 by then to start kindergarten. So she started when she was 4 and turned 5 at the end of October. She didn't turn 18 until after she started college.

They've changed dates and now it's October 1st so Jillian misses the cutoff and will end up being one of the oldest in her class instead of one of the youngest. She'll have an extra year at home.

Same with Abby, she'll be 6 when she starts. That really bums me out!
I was 4 when I started, but then they held me back because I was too small.

I don't really like it either Paula. Usually it's a good thing and they find that kids that start later do better but I think Jillian will be ready for school the year before but she won't be able to go. She already loves going to Ben's school!
