I was wondering if anyone knew how many ultrasounds they do now?? I got a paper from my doc saying that they can only do one now because insurance company's are cracking down on docs who do more then medicaly needed. The paper said that you can't get one just to find sex of the baby, but they have always said that. I thought they always did one early and mid pregnancy. I am kinda worried now that
I may not be able to get another one because they already did one to check for a tubal pregnancy cause I guess I was high risk for that??? So I hope thay do a second one later on! What do you guys think?

well i have blue cross and when i called and told my dr i was pregnant they had me go in for an u/s to see if it was tubal also cause i had an eptopic before and then after that the dr said i needed to have blood work done again so they could check to see how far along i am and then i had a second u/s to get my due date and i think i will have another u/s at around 16-20 weeks because they need to do that to check the baby's heart and other vitals and make sure everything is good so i wouldnt worry to much about not having another u/s because they can always work around the insurance company if they really think you need to have the u/s!! good luck and i hope you see your baby soon!! i havent seen mine since i was 6 weeks along and it is killing me to see my baby again!! but i did get to hear the heartbeat yesterday with the doppler so that was wonderful!!

I think they have to do another one when the baby is 18-22 weeks to make sure that everything is as it should be. You needed the one you had earlier for medical reasons and you will need another as well. I would ask your Dr though what they think...

The standard u/s should be done between 18-22 weeks, if your haveing a normal (no problem) pregnancy that's the only one you need. And I think that's what your doctors office is referring too, emergencies high risk pregnacy spotting etc are situtations that they would do another u/s in. I know that with my dd I only had one u/s at 18 1/2 weeks, so far with this one I've had one at 6 weeks due to spotting, I have my regular at the end of oct, and I'm going to end up haveing a third closer to my due date to verfy how big the baby is. (Our doctors here normally only give one u/s)
