...have favorite art pieces that they are putting in their nurseries just because they like them and not because they fit a theme?

One of my favorite artists is Greg Olsen. He has this breath-taking piece based on his two daughters. The older one is a guardian angel that is leading the younger one. If Jelly is a girl, I want to put this somewhere in my apartment (and I know I don't have to explain why.)

It's called "Heavenly Hands"

Anyone else putting up artwork just because it means something special?

I think that picture and your reason for using it is beautiful. My grandmother was very artistic so I may look through some of her stuff to see if I find anything that would be appropriate.

Beautiful picture and meaning, Brittanie.

I have a framed print of Van Gogh's Sunflowers in the nursery just because I like how bright and cheery it is.

That is a beautiful painting. Great choice.

I have this hanging in our bedroom/nursery.

To me it's symbolic of my learning about Christianity. I won't go into detail because well, I'll just feel silly But I enjoy looking at it.
ETA: I forgot to mention the name and artist. It's called "Les Bergers d'Arcadie" by Poussin.

DH and I collect art, though most of it is from SciFi/Fantasy conventions. We are putting a bunch of the 'cutesie' pieces in the baby's room, and they have dragons, cats, faeries and frogs in them. The one I really like for the baby's room is a picture by John Kaufman called 'Dragon's Egg'. It is a picture of two hands holding a dragons egg up to a light and you can see the baby dragon's silhouette through it. I love it!

I definitely plan on commemorating Cora's birthday somehow. Jelly will know exactly who she is. I didn't know about my stillborn older sister until I was 11, just because my parents never talked about her. But I want Jelly to know.

DH and I have already discussed trying to take a trip to Jenny Lake (where we spread her ashes) every summer. I plan on going up there for her birthday this year, and later in the summer as well, after Jelly is born. Jelly will be camping really early! lol.

After learning about Bethany, I always felt she was my guardian angel. I want Jelly to know that s/he has an angel sister.

That sounds so cool! I collect ceramic dragon statuettes that I paint. I have 15 now (well, 17...but two aren't painted yet. The smell of the paint makes me sick!) I'll have to look around and see if I can find something like that.
