A 20 week ultrasound is usually 80% accurate, according to what I've read. Any later ultrasounds and the accuracy goes up.
I've been buying girl clothes AND boy clothes I dress my daughters in both anyway... nothin cuter than a baby girl with big blue eyes in fluffy blue jammies

It really depends on when you get the u/s. Early u/s at like 15 weeks are not as accurate as one at 20-22 weeks.
Just keep tags on everything. It's been known to happen, happened to my cousin.
They do say though that if they tell you boy, it'll be a boy.
Will you have another u/s at all, so you can double check?

I was very worried about that with Rebekah, I kept looking at the u/s pic and getting upset because I could not see anything...DUH there was nothing to see. But I owuld say if you had an u/s done between 18-20 weeks or later then you should be fine. I know that this time there was NO mistake it is a boy, and I am sure if you were having a boy you would ahve seen it also. I am sure you are having a girl! Biut if you are really worried than just keep tags on stuff and maybe only a few things have washed and ready before hand so you are not out too much if she does turn out to be a him.

well in my case..at my 15wk sono he said he was 90% sure it was a girl..and then at my 20wk sono there was a penis..lol..so i definitely don't trust the sono's THAT early anymore!!
but yeah i've always heard that after 18 weeks they are like 90% accurate. if you have another sono..you could have the tech look for the ovaries..my friend said she saw her little girl's ovaries on the sono.
but for boys they are almost ALWAYS 100% accurate. i mean if you SEE a penis..then there's a penis..lol. unless the tech is dumb enough to confuse the cord w/ one..ha.

I talked to my tech about this today. I had an ultrasound 2 weeks ago and it was a girl and today it was still a girl at 22 weeks. For the last two weeks I have been feeling just like you so I asked about it changing because of hearing stories here about them being wrong. My tech said if they aren't sure they won't tell you a gender they will just say they can't tell for sure (at our office). But she said if you get a good view or angle or whatever there is no reason it should be wrong. I guess maybe some people go out on a limb and guess when the view is less than ideal? Maybe a bad technician more than anything. She agreed that 15 weeks might be too early to get a good read on gender so I would say as long as you are far enough along and the tech got a good view and seemed sure, go ahead. I got a view right between my girls legs and she even showed me the lines that are the labia. It looked very different than my boys ultrasounds.

I had my u/s done at 17 weeks The tech got a butt view of Baby A she said she thought she could see the three lines of a girl, then she looked at the whole bottom of Baby B and there was absolutly nothing on that babys bottom (the baby even looked between her little legs at us) the tech said that one was probably a girl but after seeing nothing on that one she said she wasn't sure about the other one, so the tech decided she wasn't saying about either one because it was just to early. She said at 20 weeks they would be able to tell. I am having my next u/s done at 27 weeks so if the will kindly spread their legs we should be able to tell then for sure.

I freaked out about this with my DD's u/s. I'm a little better this time, but still paranoid. I'm really tempted to use some tax money to go get a 3D u/s to know for sure!!

This is what makes me a little leary...the tech told us, "I don't see any boy parts." When I looked, I could see anything between the legs, not even the opening for girl parts. To me it looked like we were looking from far away. Plus, we didn't get any pics from that region. My mother's intuition tells me it's a girl, which is why I broke down and wanted to find out. Besides, we plan on keeping the tags on most things, and we already have a boy if we need boy clothes.

I would think it is an ignorant u/s tech that would get it wrong. Maybe they couldn't see it clearly and made something up or were in a hurry and didn't take the time to really see it.
All three of mine were obviously boy, girl, girl and the techs were definitely sure and so was I based on what I was looking at.

I think it depends on how far along you are, and how good of a view they get. For me, I went at about 18 and a half weeks for a level 2 ultrasound. The pics were VERY clear. You can very clearly see the little lines that make up the labia and clitoris. There is no mistaking that Megan is a girl. So it just depends on the circumstances....

We had ours done at 20wks. And we were told by friends that if it were a girl it would look like a little hamburger, and it did. She had three lines there on her little nether regions. We got pics of it too, so hopefully it is pretty accurate.
