On Feb 15th we had one of our cats front declawed. (Please don't tell me how cruel it is, we had no choice)
Well yesterday and I was kissing him I smelled a funk from his left paw, which immediatly I thought infection. So I asked dh and he told me I was nuts, that he couldn't smell anything. Said he probably stepped in cat poo in the litter box. Ok, whatever... So then later I smelled it again, just kissing his head I could smell his paw and he was laying down this time so I took a look and sure enough, puss!
So this morning we have an appt. witht he vet to get him checked out.
It's going to be a busy morning! 10:15 vet appt, 11:30 U/S...no time inbetween to drop Sam off at home so he's going to have to stay in the car for my dr appt.
They'd better not charge us anymore either, we already forked over $416.!!!!! for the declaw!

Awww poor kitten! I remember dealing with that when my BIL's dog ripped her nail out of her paw... It got all nasty and infected and it took almost a week of treatment (with a dog who didn't like her feet touched) for me to get it back to normal.

I hope his little kitty foot gets better soon!

Awww! Hopefully irrigating the paw and a round of antibiotics will clear it right up! Poor kitty. I love cats!

Well we're back. It was infected, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th "digit" are swollen and the 2nd and 3rd had some puss.
So they gave him more pain meds and some antibiotics. I have to call them back in 5 days and let them know how he's doing, it he's still limping around they will give him more pain meds.
They only charged us for the meds, not the office visit. So that's another $60 for Sam. Geeze, he's an expensive kitty!

Animals can get expensive, that's for sure. Well I hope his paw gets better soon. Giving medicine to kitties usually isn't a whole lot of fun.

lol No it's not. The liquid is pretty easy, just open his mouth and squirt in the syringe...the pills get tricky. We have a pill popper so we pop it in then have to use a small syringe to squirt a little water to make sure it goes down. He gets very cranky with the pill. lol

You are stil nicer than us. We just had our cat fixed. He is still kind of drugged, so he thinks he still likes us right now, but we'll see in a couple more hours.

My dog takes pills for hypothyroid. I just get him all excited like its a treat. I make him sit and speak for it and then hes just so excited that he chomps it down before he even realized it was another stinkin pill. You would think he would figure it out taking it twice a day!

My dogs are pretty dumb. They are really obedient and do all their tricks but expecially Blaze is just such a doofus...

I swear that our cats are living proof that men's brains are attached to their balls. Every time we get one fixed, they get dumber. We will see if this one continues the trend......
