So remember when we talked about our bellybuttons poking out? Mine has a god awful mole in it that my dermatologist couldn't completely remove because it was so deep. Well, after we had that discussion, I got to thinking and made an appointment. After looking at it again and rubbing her hands together in anticipation (she wants this thing out as much as I do), she said that we can get it all now and had me make an appt. in 6 weeks (April 3rd!!!!!!) for the removal. That way it's out even farther to make it easier on me plus I'll be in my third tri. which will make it easier on the boy. I'm so excited. She said that the scar will not only be minimal but because it is so naturally deep, no one will ever see it. I'm on my way to a cute bellybutton. I can't believe how excited I am. ***SIGH***

Funny enough.... I have a mole in my belly button too. I never really thought much about it until recently, My belly button has gotten really shallow, it's not out yet but the mole is on the outside now. Do you know if there is any danger to having a mole? I don't necessarily mean in relation to the pregnancy but in general. Should I be thinking about having it removed?

Moles can become cancerous. That does not mean that all moles will become cancerous, it's just a possibility. Mine has always been huge and really gross looking. It really bothered me that I couldn't see it all to check for any discolorations - which could be a bad sign. It's ALWAYS a good idea to have any and all moles checked periodically. I believe it's a good idea to have it looked at. If the Dr. says it's a normal, "Healthy" mole, and it doesn't bother you esthetically, then there should be no reason to have it removed.

Only danger is if it can be cancer related but if it is in the belly button, it is probably not. I had one removed there too after ds was born because my bb was still hanging out for a few months.

No stress on the baby to get it done. I had to have one removed with stitches and everything while pg and it was safe.

That is definitely taking advantage of the situation. I don't know that I would have even thought of that. All I know is that i'm not looking forward to mine popping out. I have a major bellybutton phobia. I hate touching it or it being touched. (EWW)

OMG!!!!! Me too. My dermatologist is THE ONLY one I've ever allowed to touch it. Mine also feels funny. Even a direct stream of water in the shower hitting it makes me cringe. Thinking about it makes me shiver. Not only am I ignoring my phobia for this, but like sbwolfer mentioned, I also have to get over the fact that this is going to be painful. SO WORTH IT!!! If I can get a good pic of this ugly thing I will post it.
