Well, I woke up early Monday morning (3am) with a throbbing headache and got sick. (My migraines are always accompanied by nausea and vomiting) and then couldn't stop getting sick. I kept throwing up until noon, called the doctors office and they had me go in to get fluids and medicine for the nausea/headache.
As soon as I got hooked up to an IV and all rested, my contractions started coming on pretty good. They were coming about every 5 minutes and I could definitely feel them. The nurse checked me and I had dialated to 1cm (From being closed up tight on Friday). They sent me down for an amniotic fluid check ultrasound since the baby's heart rate was dipping with some of the contractions. They found that my amniotic fluid level was great - at 16cm. But, baby flipped since friday and is now BREACH!
So, when we got wheeled back upstairs, the nurse said since he's breach, if I keep having contractions, they'd take the baby that night. Well, I kept having contractions, coming about every 2-3 minutes. They checked me again and I had a lot of bloody show and was dialated to 2cm. They then decided to give me a shot of Terbutaline to stop the contractions since I was just shy of 37 weeks and hopefully to give this baby more time to bake and FLIP!
So, I got home around 1am last night, I was in the hospital for over 12 hours. I'm wiped out. So, we're on baby watch now. If my contractions get to around every 8-10 minutes, I'm supposed to go back in.
Give me some baby flip vibes, okay!???

(((HUGS))) I'm sorry you had such a hard time. Sending baby flipping vibes your way!!! Let's hope that little Carter decides to flip in a couple of days!!
Ack! I'm sorry you had such a tough time. I hope that baby flips! Sometimes they wait until the last second, but I hope he doesn't wait too long and necessitate a c-section.
Wow...what a night! I'm so happy that you and baby are ok and I hope he flips around soon. Sorry you had such a horrible migraine. I get them too so I understand what you went through.
Oh golly...
I'll be sending not only baby flipping vibes your way but also some prayers! I know you want to have a natural birth so I really hope you'll get to experience that! Here are some tips that were posted by Lala for getting that baby flipped from the LABOR AND CHILDBIRTH board on this site:
(hope Lala doesn't mind me cutting and pasting her reply to someone else!)
It is definitely not too late to turn that baby!
First - do inversions - lay down with your butt/feet on the couch, head on the floor kinda upside down. 15 mins at a time or whatever she can handle, several times a day.
Try also getting down knees to chest, butt in the air.
Both of these help get the baby out of the pelvis even if only an inch and give the baby some room to turn.
other things to try: webster technique - a very high success rate, with very little intervention & no risks to mom or baby. Aks your friend to call around & find a chiropractor who is expereinced in it & she will likely see success but from now Until her appt she needs to do those inversions.
As for the oB - most OBs are not trained in delivering breech babies even though MWs do in certain places all the time. Studies show that a vaginal delivery of most breech presentations is as safe as a vaginal birth of a head down baby. But youll be pressed to find an OB who is experienced to do this, and you probably dont want to be the guinea pig for an inexperienced OB. It would be like letting your oil change guy deliver the baby lol. It would probably be ok, but do u really want to take the chance? lol.
And also - remember that babies can turn even in labor. A lot of moms opt to go into labor naturally rather than scheduling a cesarean to give the baby the optimum amount of time to let the baby turn. Then if labor begins on its own, do an u/s to confirm. If baby is breech - go to cesarean otherwise proceed with labor.
By scheduling a cesarean, you not only increase risk to the baby (prematurity, respiratory problems, etc) but you also dont give the baby a chance to turn
Lala...
HOPE THESE HELP YOU OUT!!!

The world today is upside down because there is so very little love in the home, and in family life. We have no time for each other. Everybody is in such a terrible rush, and so anxious…and in the home begins the disruption of the peace of the world. -Mother Teresa~

Yes, that was the most devastating part of the evening. I really want to have this baby naturally. Thanks for posting those tips. I was just going to do a search for those, but now I don't have to!

Flip baby flip! A friend of mine had an 'inversion' technique done where the OB has an ultrasound machine and actually turned the baby... maybe ask your OB about this...
Also, several people I know had GREAT Success by seeing a specially astrained chiropractor that has experience with pregnat women and even more specifically with changing babies posiiton!
Also, If you want to look up more information there is a neat website (don't remember exact address) called spinningbabies something and a general search on breech or 'optimal fetal positioning' may also have other advice...
Glad to hear they were able to get your contractions stopped!! There is plenty of time for Carter to flip back!! Carli has done this many times over...Hopefully he will get back to the right position before you start having more contractions!!
