cool Ok, I have an appointment next month for this wisdom tooth that has grown in funny and is really bugging me. I wanted to have it pulled. Well, now I have another one growing in that is really bugging me. If they use just a general numbing thing, and not put me to sleep (which they can't do when pregnant right??) will the actually procedure be painful? Cuz I'm a wuss and if it will then I will probably just wait until the baby is born.

I had my two wisdome teeth pulled without being knocked out. I REFUSED to have an IV, so I was awake and NO you do not FEEL it but it is NOT fun! I felt like they were literally pulling my head off as they were pulling out.
I'd never do it that way again! If I were you, I'd wait and have them knock you out.

I am popping in from July ddc, I work for an oral surgeon and we take out wisdom teeth all day... so to answer as to what we do in your situation, if it is hurting and or infected and cant wait until after baby comes, then yes it can safely be removed. YOu can be given a local anesthetic that doesnt contain epinephrine and that is safe for you and baby. It will not be the most comfortable thing you have ever been through b/c they will probably have to drill and you will feel A LOT of pressure, but nothing should hurt. So if it has to come out then talk with your OB first and get a note that has what meds he or she wants you to have for after surgery (pain med and antibiotic) and you should be good to go!! GOOD LUCK HTH

yep..PP pretty much covered it

i really hope you can hold out though..because it's sooo much better to just "come to" and it all be over than to have to KNOW what's going on. good luck sweetie.
