well the doctor appointment went good.seen the baby he/she was sleeping.heartbeat was good.but couldnt hear it on the monitor, had to do an u/s. the baby was laying upside down lol.i have high blood pressure. blah.

i did my blood work for hiv and downsyndrom now heres my question for anyone who had hematoma.

she said i have a chance of it coming back as a false positive, because of the hematoma in early pregnancy.has anyone had that ? or should i been fine. im so worried.

but my big u/s is on april 13th ( friday the 13th EEEEEEK!! ). my friend Tina looks at friday the 13th as a lucky day not a scary day.she always has a positive side to everything. such a sweetie.

but yea, thats my mini update

Actually yes! I had my appointment Tuesday and have had a subchorionic hemmorhage and a partial separation of the placenta from the uterine wall, so I have some very annoying occasional bleeding. My doctor adviced me NOT to get the blood tests to check for down syndrome, etc., because if there is bleeding or something else going on, you can get a false positive and I would probably be worrying my whole pregnancy over nothing. He said that at my next u/s he will be checking for any indications of a problem with the baby. I hope that helps hun.

Interesting, I've never heard of that. I doula'ed for a woman with a massive SCH a few years ago, we never ran across that tidbit of info! (she declined any testing, and would've either way.) Learn something new each day!

Calimom, are you familiar with the Brewer Diet? It's really helpful in cases of high bp.

My doctor said regardless that 30% of the test come back with false positives!!!! WAY TOO HIGH FOR ME! I am stressed out enough as it is, and don't need unecessary worrying! She said that there are 2 types of people who would want to know:

1. ones who would want to terminate their pregnancy because of it

2. ones who just want to prepare themselves to handle a child with a problem.

I would never terminate my pregnancy for that and although it would be nice to be able to prepare yourself so you are not so shocked when you give birth, there is really nothing you can do anyway. I have decided not to get the testing, a positive, false or not, is not worth the stress to me. Good to know that your chances of false positive are higher when you have had sch cause I have one, and my dr. didn't say ANYTHING about that when she told me about the tests! If I were you, I wouldn't do it. Just my opinion. Sorry if that sounded rude, I didn't mean it to be!

I personally don't know what to look for, but it is routine to check those things during u/s. I know it is hard, but I wouldn't stress if you get high numbers back, you already have indicators that it could. I will keep you in my prayers though and let us know for sure....

i agree. everyone that i know, that has ever gotten a positive result, it ended up being a false positive and an ultrasound or amnio proved the baby to be fine.
