Hmmm I was just wondering if anyone here is still going to the gym. I haven't been since the doctor told me to rest because of the ligament pain, but now I'm feeling better and thinking of going.

I know I could walk on the treadmill and lift some light weights, but is anyone exercising in a way that you really get your heart rate up and a cardiovascular workout?

Is it okay to get your self a little out of breath and heart rate up?
Just wondering.

I was told not to get my heartrate over 130 and not to get out of breath. I havent actually given it a try yet because I've had some issues.

I'm still going to the gym. I used to work out regularly until I got preggo and the 1st trimester kicked my butt! But I've started back working out about 3 weeks ago and I feel wonderful! I don't lift heavy anymore and I don't run/sprint... maybe a light jog or a brisk walk... it freaks me out if I do anything that involves bouncing around.

I work out every day but Sunday. I don't lift weights right now, but I walk 2-miles on my treadmill at 4.0mph 2.5% incline, so yes I get my heart rate up, but keep it below 140 - I definitely break a sweat. I also do 20-minutes on the elliptical 3x/wk. When I work out I always make sure that I don't get too tired that I couldn't carry a conversation with someone. If you can't talk while you're working out, you are probably overdoing it.

I was going at first and then morning sickness kicked my butt. However, now that I am feeling better I plan on going back. I just walk on the treadmill or ride the bike. I read while I am doing this and don't get my heart rate up high and I dont lift weights.

Yeah, the first trimester kicked my butt too! I would like to start back this week. At the latest the end of the month when my semester is finished. I take my final on April 28th. My doctor said to keep my heartbeat at 130 or lower. That seems so low, because normally when I work out it is at 160-170. My girlfriend was told by her doctor to keep it at 140 or lower, so I think that will be my goal. My doctor said not to do anything on my back (no situps, bench press, etc). So far while I have been pregnant the ellipitical trainer has been my favorite.

I don't go to the gym but I do walk a lot. Just really starting to feel like it again and the weather is just now starting to warm up but when it is nice, I walk at least 3-4 times a week. We have some walking trails in our new neighborhood so it should be really nice.

I try to walk the dog every day, but with the snow we just got and are supposed to be getting the rest of the week I haven't been. 6-8inches is really depressing in April! It looks like January outside! I hope to walk a lot more throughout the summer, and go swimming. The elliptical sounds fun, I used to like it, but I can't ever get myself to the gym.

I try to go when I can. The doc said that I can't get my heart rate above 140. I just get on the treadmill and walk and I get on the eliptical too. I have a Polar HR monitor that I wear and it helps keep tabs on my HR.

I have one of those too. I got if for Christmas. In February the face cracked so I sent it back for repair. I just finally got it back. I really like it....can't wait to start using it again.
