so i need to dye my hair BAD..my roots are HORRID..we have a few bbq's this weekend and i can't get in to see my stylist until late next week for highlights..is it okay to buy some boxed dye and try it? I know there is a chance it wont even take but can the amonia and peroxide etc. pass through the placenta and hurt the baby? I need it done bad but not THAT bad.

also if i do this..im not going back again next week for highlights as well.

Most doctors agree that it's fine.

When I asked my doctor if it was ok she almost laughed at me.

In fact, I just did my "roots" on Tuesday night- with bleach.

dropping in to say ~ my obgyn told me not to do it until after 2nd trimester. she told me there is a CHANCE it would hurt the baby, and needless to say it wasnt that important to me compared to the life of my child.

Thats was back in the 70s when hair dyes weren't safe. They're perfectly fine now. I use Revlon the kind that has no ammonia and its fairly gentle.

I have dyed mine and it is fine. My doctor just told me not to do it in the first trimester.

Well, I'm glad that all of you skanks are finally doing something about it! LMAO

I haven't colored my hair for awhile now, although every once in awhile I'll get a major urge to do something drastic or just something fun. (I've had my hair almost every single color that it could possibly be!)

Go for it...there is nothing wrong in dying your hair...I am trying to wait for August to come around so that I can at least put a relaxer in my hair...Right now my hair is fine...can't do anything with it really because I work to much and for health reasons I have to keep it up...But I at least want it to be looking better than it did when I had Little Ernest...I could barely comb through it..

I just went today and got my hair dyed my natural color (all dark brown). I used to have these chunky blonde highlights and the roots were hideous! I had to do something about it! My doc said it was fine.
