It’s getting closer and closer to that wonderful time when
we will be holding our precious bundles of joy in our arms.
So I wanted to ask you soon-to-be mommies,
or already experienced mothers have you been
packing your things for the hospital yet or buying items?
I just bought a lot of things recently such as →Nursing bras, • Breast pads, • Nightgowns, • Socks, • Going-home outfit, • extra toothbrush, • toothpaste, • deodorant, • lotion, • massage oils, • soap, • digital camera, • address book, • going home outfit for the baby, • hat (covering the baby’s head), • his booties /socks and receiving blankets.
I haven’t got the rest of the things yet but I plan on having everything before Aug 15.
Things I didn’t get…
• Baby’s Car Seat ((Very important because you can’t leave the hospital without one!) before Aug 15
• Video Camera—to capture precious first moments of babies life.
It’s better to be early and have everything ready and expect the unexpected
instead of being late and not having your things ready ---LavenderGoddessV</div>
I totally aggre that it's better to get it done early. I went into my reg. 34 weeks appt. with Andy and was told I was being admitted and induced the next day. I didn't have a bag ready so I had to ask some friends to grab some stuff from my house (dh was away). I am actually going to pack my bag this weekend since I am not sure when I am going to need surgery.
I too was sent straight to the hospital from my 37 week appointment, and had yet to pack my back. I had a scheduled induction for several days later so thought I had time!
With my son I didn't pack a bag! Once my water broke and I knew I was going to the hospital I threw some things together. However, my DH didn't want to stay in the hospital with me and I was there for 4 days. Anytime he went home I had him bring other things back for me that I wanted. It worked out fine. We are about 5 -15 minutes from the hospital depending on traffic. If we lived far, or he wanted to stay then I would worry about it more.
I will probably start packing my bag in about 6 more weeks. Last time I started then, but put off finishing it UNTIL I woke up with my water leaking one morning. Then we threw the rest of everything together in about 20 minutes before heading off to the hospital. This time if my dr notices any dialating or effacing I will finish my bag that day
<div align="center">Well I’m glad that everyone is thinking about packing all there hospital bags before the big day approaches, you just never know when the baby is coming. Doctors have already been telling me that my due-date might be inaccurate and they told me not to go by what the due-date says and I should always be ready ahead of 3-4 weeks before. So I purchased some things and planning on having everything packed and ready Aug 14.
And thanks ladies for reading this, even through we all have different due-dates remember that yours could be inaccurate and your baby might decide to come way before then. Maybe a few weeks or days early so have everything ready so you are nice and comfortable in the hospital. Remember your going to be there for at least two days. And you can bring extra stuff at the last moment like • snacks, • magazines, • cd-player to relax before the baby is delivered or after delivery. </div>
I will be putting together a "Getting Ready for baby" sticky together this week, because I believe that early prepartion is very important...What things beside the hospital bag would you ladies like to know?
I have not started getting a bag ready yet. I want to have it done early though so I will be prepared. I really like all the ideas about what to bring. I'm sure I would not think of everything on my own.
BTW, I think the sticky about getting ready for baby is a great idea!
@Laurace20: Thanks good to think about getting yourself ready, right now most of us ladies are at a one-hundred day countdown and some of us are due sooner then that. I can’t believe we are already there. And I’m glad you like the idea, I just wanted to remind everyone because I was thinking about it at the time.
@Sassafras18: Good August doesn’t sound bad at all, you might want to think about buying some of your items in July and putting them together by the middle of August. So that way you are too busy getting ready and working on other important things like planning baby shower ((if you haven’t yet)) or the nursery and getting other baby things together. xD thanks for replying to this topic.
@CeiCei: Seems like we both think alike, yes getting early is always better then being late. I just can’t stand not having my things together it’s stressful.
