Joshua did fairly well over the weekend. He is eating four times a day; twice with the bottle and twice with his nasal tube. He is up to 1 1/2 ounces per feeding and tolerating that amount well. He spits up sometimes but that is normal for any baby. He weighed 4 pounds even yesterday. He fluctuates between his birth weight and 4 pounds 2 ounces. I'm hoping he starts packing on the pounds now that he is eating more and more.
We had a bit of a scare with his tempature. The nurse was showing me how to take it and it came back 93.5 which is obviously too low. She checked it again thinking I did it wrong but it came back the same. She had to haul butt to warm up a blanket and get his temperature up. They are checking it every hour now to make sure it does not go below 98. If it does he will be put back in isolation. That would be a really big set back. So far he is doing just fine and we are hoping it was a fluke and won't happen again.
He's starting to become much more alert now. He's not quite as sleepy all the time. He wakes up and opens his eyes when he hears my voice too. It's the cutest thing. No one else can get him to wake up without bugging him a lot. I guess he just knows my voice.
I don't think there is much else to report -- but I will share some pictures!
John's hand compared to Joshua's. Look how small!!!
I hope he can maintain his temperature. I know thats scary. MY nephew was born full term and had a a hard time maintaining his temp for the first 24 hours.... It scared my lil sis to death.
this temp thing sucks!!!!!!! CJs going thru the same crap, if he can keep it up he can come home
when are they planning on taking his feeding tube out? if hes drinking from a bottle and tolerating i would think its time to come out??
but i know once thy do one thing it might effect another like his temp

He does well with a bottle but he still has to be reminded to suck, swallow, and breathe all at the same time. They don't want to rely solely on the bottle because it burns a lot of his energy. I imagine the feeding tube will be coming out shortly. It just depends if he can master bottle feeding soon.
I'm sorry CJ is going through the same temperature issues. They are so little and it's so hard for them to maintain their body temperature. I hope he gets to come home soon.
I'm so glad he's doing well... He is such a darling little peanut.... As for the temp thing I hope it is just a fluke.... You guys are in my thought ...
He is so adorable!! I hope he packs on the pounds so he can go home with his great mommy as soon as he can! He is looking really healthy for his size! I hope everything gets better!

Aw, that little hand is WAY too cute!!! I love it!
Glad he is doing well with the feedings and hopefully he starts packing on the pounds real soon. And can keep his temp leveled, don't want that kind of set back!
