My toilet is overfilling, and flooding the bathroom, I have no idea what to do the plunger is not helping at all!!! And I just called the people we rent from and they don't have like an emergency number, just "leave a message." AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! What am I going to do? Do I call the 24 hour plumber here in town or do I wait for the morning and just try to mop up the water that is in there now???? Help!!!!

Check for a water shut off under the tank ... that will keep it from continuing to flow

Usually somewhere near the tank attached to the wall is a shut off valve. If you ever see it starting to overflow quickly turn that valve and shut the water off. Just periodically try to plunge it with some water in the bowl. If you can't get it fixed then call the landlord in the morning and tell them it needs to be fixed right away.

I'm sure you probably got it figured out, but just for future reference...if you lift the ball in the back of the toilet, it will stop the water. Of course, you have to find something to hold it up or do it yourself. I hope everything got figured out!
